A newsletter to keep you informed about what's "up with arts."

Letter from the BOD President:
Dear Members and Friends,

I am going to keep my note short this month so you can get right into reading all of the announcements and information we have for you.

I do want to personally invite you to visit our booth at Hudson Community Fest next Saturday, June 9.  Come learn all about or organization and some of our upcoming programs.  We'll have some fun activities for kids and adults alike.  For more information on the festival, which is sponsored by the Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce, please check out the following website: https://www.facebook.com/Hudson-Community-Fest-187111771312492/

I hope you have a wonderful June!

Warm Regards,
Lisa Schliker -  REAA BOD President
Staffing Announcements:
New Chief Administrative Officer - Danielle Griggs

The BOD would like to welcome Danielle Griggs to our team.  Danielle's first day is Monday, June 4th.

Danielle Griggs has spent the last decade planning and implementing initiatives for nonprofit educational institutions, where she has held roles in administration, marketing and communications, and fundraising. Before that she worked as a professional actor and studied musical theater at New York University. She moved to Hudson last year and lives here with her husband and two young daughters.

Outgoing Chief Administrative Officer - Debra Vanderwerf

The BOD would like to publicly thank Debra Vanderwerf for all of her hard work over the past year.  Debra will be moving out of state this summer with her husband who is relocating for business reasons.

Debra joined the BOD last summer.  When she joined, we were in the process of hiring a new CAO.  When our top candidate had to decline for personal reasons, Debra stepped into the position and never looked back.  She quickly became an advocate for the arts within Hudson and the surrounding area.  She really helped us grow the organization over the past year.  Her background in supporting nonprofit organizations made her the perfect fit for our team.

Debra's last official day is June 5, but she will be at our Artist Appreciation concert on June 14.  Stop by and say "farewell".

2018 Artist Appreciation Honoree

We are excited to announce our 2018 Artist Appreciation Honoree:
Assabet Valley Camera Club

In 1985 a small group of people, who took an evening photography course at Assabet Valley Regional Vocational High School, decided to form the Assabet Valley Camera Club. Currently AVCC has over 50 members of all ages with both amateur and professional experience from 15 different communities in the greater Metro West area. In addition to competing in photographic contests on the local, national and international level, the club has partnered with area organizations that include The River's Edge Arts Alliance and the Friends of the Marlborough Public Library, with whom AVCC co-hosts photographic print exhibits.

AVCC meets in the Great Room at the Hudson Senior Center on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from September through early June. Meetings are free and open to the general public. Members benefit from the hands-on experiences, from the knowledge presented in programs, and from having their work critiqued. AVCC welcomes anyone interested in learning more about photography as a visual art and its practical application as a science. For more information check out the AVCC website at assabetvalleycc.com or contact John Gill, club president, at 978-293-5192.

Please join us at the Artist Appreciation Concert where we will publicly recognize the AVCC.
