Woodbury's Fire Department - Great Job!
At the February 14, 2017 Council Meeting in City Hall, Mayor Jess Floyd presented, Brent Stanley, Josh Gartner and Randy Ballinger with certificates to acknowledge the efforts they displayed while responding to a call on January 19, 2017 at 513 Lafayette Avenue.
Brent, Josh and Randy assisted the Gloucester County Basic Life Support
Unit and helped to save the life of one of
the residents at the fire scene.
On behalf of the residents, business owners and Council members, Mayor Floyd thanked the members of Woodbury's Fire Department
for an outstanding and commendable job.
Woodbury celebrates Black History Month
On Friday, June 27, 2014 Woodbury's Afro-American History Project organization, headed by local resident Gloria Holmes, unveiled a plaque to identify the former site of the Red Bank Avenue Burial Grounds for People of Color.
The ceremony was dedicated to the following men of color who served in the Civil War:
- John Andrews of Company D/Regiment 29 - USCT
- Alexander Bailey of Company A/Regiment 43 - USCT
- Alex Cook - US Navy
- John Coy of Company F/Regiment 11 - USCT
- Charles Gibson of Company D/Regiment 29 - USCT
- Joseph Gibson of Company B/Regiment - US Colored Volunteer Infantry
- John Handy of Company F/Regiment 22 - USCT
- Isaac J. Hill of Company D/Regiment29 - USCT
- John Lewis of Company I/Regiment 22 - NJ Volunteer
- Eben Money of Company B/Regiment 24 - USCT.
In addition, William Fisher Dickerson (1844 - 1870), the 13th bishop of the African Methodist Episcopalian Church is also buried at this site, locate directly outside of the Inspira parking garage on Route 45.

- TEEN CENTER - GRADES 6 - 12 Monday through Friday from 3 - 6 pm at the YMCA and Kimble Memorial United Methodist Church, 19 S. Broad Street.
- ACHIEVERS, A college readiness initiative for middle and high school students, designed to help gain leadership and life skills. Grades 5 - 12. the program runs from now until May 31, 2017 on Mondays at 6:30 pm and Tuesdays from 6 - 7 :30 pm in the YMCA Studio.

INSPIRA Junior Volunteer Program @ Inspira Medical Center Woodbury
Applications are being accepted now through February 28, 2017 for next summer's Junior Volunteer Program at Inspira Woodbury. Applications can be picked up at the Guest Services Department or in the Volunteer Services Department.

Woodbury Old-City Restoration Committee's Storefront Grant Program
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Woodbury Old-City Restoration Committee ("WORC") mission is to protect existing historical structures within the City of Woodbury by actively restoring endangered landmarks and structures. The Downtown WORCs Project aims to assist the City of Woodbury's downtown revitalization efforts by improving the aesthetic appeal of existing structures, by restoring their history and character. WORC has designed this program to assist both, the exterior restoration of historic structures, and beautification of those buildings which complement our beloved district.
ELIGIBILITY: Owners of properties and/or owners of businesses in the blocks of South Broad Street between Red Bank Avenue and Carpenter Street with a requirement of retail and/or office frontage or access on Broad Street itself.
SCOPE: The renovations are intended to be historically significant to the City of Woodbury. Renovations may include the exterior of each property including but not limited to paint, trim, windows, roofing, awning, signage, lighting, surface materials. WORC will provide research assistance and custom design services to achieve a desired plan that is both agreeable to applicant and the WORC Board of Trustees.
