Join Us for the Next Alliance Gathering with Sara Kaltwasser, MFA

Join us as Sara Kaltwasser, MFA, community artist and art educator at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), examines the role of art in empowering anti-ageist work and advancing positive age beliefs.

As a multidisciplinary artist and community art educator, Sara's foundation is rooted in art education, history, socially engaged modalities, and collective community development.

For nearly seven years, Sara worked as the artist in residence at Keswick, a nursing home and community center in the City of Baltimore. In this work, she used painting, installation, collage & assemblage, sculpture, research and performative process to work with elders.

Among other things, she will examine the power of artistic activism and her work with Art Against Ageism.

Join us for what is sure to be a lively, dynamic, and art-filled discussion!

| We Owned Our Ages at LeadingAge

As the video above (and photos below) will attest, we had a great time at the LeadingAge Annual Meeting in Chicago last month! Our Own Your Age Photo Booth some 200 attendees, who used their own creativity to show off their ages as help to dismantle age bias.

We are happy to bring some fun, creativity, and age positivity to your event! Reach out to Jordan HERE for details.

Thank you so much to GreySource for their continued support of our work. Our appearance at LeadingAge could not happen without them!

| Creative Activism Endeavor of the Month

Everybody ages, everybody experiences age bias, and therefore, everybody should care about ending ageism.

In 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) published a Global Campaign to Combat Ageism toolkit, equipping anybody with the tools to start educating, organizing, and raising awareness.

Using #AWorld4AllAges, anybody can post their progress and accomplishments in the fight against ageism. These images and videos are excellent examples of artistic activism that help to empower the fight to dismantle ageism.

Check out their resources HERE and see how you can impact your communities today!

| Zaria Forman: Your Monthly Dose of Activist-Art Inspiration

Zaria Forman is a pastel artist who creates large, hyper-realistic drawings of changing climate landscapes. Based in New York, Forman travels all over the world to find inspiration for her drawings. She has even traveled with NASA and National Geographic!

Forman's love of Arctic landscapes can be traced back to her mother, Rena Bass Forman, who spent most of her life photographing the Arctic. Rena's knowledge on light and how it transforms a picture influenced Zaria's work tremendously.

Forman's work showcases the ever-changing land and seascapes of the Arctic, depicting melting icebergs and tumultuous waters that are only getting more severe with time and inaction. Her work asks the viewers to think of the beauty of nature, and what they can do to preserve it.
