KICK OFF SUNDAY
this Sunday
| |
From the Pastor
Friends,
It is good to be back in the office. I'd like to thank all of you who helped 'hold things down' while I stepped away. Having a week with family in 'Sweet Home Chicago' was a gift - especially meeting my nephew Waylon! He is a sweet one, I'll tell you. To me, family, friends, and faith constitute the 'good stuff' of life, so I'll always be grateful for the quality time. If you haven't already today, be sure to tell someone in your orbit that you love them, for there are no ordinary moments!
And this Sunday is no ordinary Sunday! Friends, it's KICKOFF SUNDAY - which means games, a bounce house, and Ray Ray's Food Truck (for purchase) out on the lawn. The weather looks perfect! Also, the Granville Center for the Arts has a gallery opening simultaneously. So, COME and check it all out! Oh, and represent your favorite team by wearing their gear or colors. College football and the NFL will be underway! Fall has arrived! BEAR DOWN!!!!
And remember to bring that loose change to church for our special offering to support the Newark Homeless Outreach. BRING THE CHANGE YOU NO LONGER WANT TO SEE IN YOUR WORLD :)
I'm really looking forward to celebrating the beginning of a new church year with you all. School is in session, the temperature is cooling, and we've got work to do.
Let's be that change, y'all.
Pax,
Pastor A

Join Us for Loose Change Week!
This Sunday, our kids are on a mission to make a big difference with your loose change! After children's chat they will be collecting coins to support the Newark Homeless Outreach. Every penny, nickel, and dime will go towards helping those in need. Together, let's turn our spare change into hope and change lives! Don’t forget to bring your loose change to be a part of this special effort!

Introducing:
Getting to Know You....Show and Tell with children's church!
The kids in children's church want to get to you know you better! Do you have something you can share? A collection, a talent, a story, something you love to do? It can be interactive, but doesn't have to be. If so, we would LOVE to have you as a guest speaker for children's church. We are looking for one person each month to join us so that we can grow in community together! Please contact Heather Long if you're interested! We can't wait to learn more about you!
The guest speaker is not a replacement for one of the two needed children's church volunteers! We still need two people with background checks (or who are willing to get one) each week with the kiddos, and are looking for a guest speaker as an enhancement.

COVID-19 update: As of May 11, 2023, both the WHO and USA ended their declarations of Covid-19 as a public health emergency. We continue to trust in the love and goodwill of this community to care for self and neighbor with health and safety in mind. As such, we continue to defer to each individual’s conscience regarding the use of masks at UCG and will maintain our ‘mask only’ seating in the Sanctuary. Should you have any questions or concerns about our practice, please contact the church office. | |
