NEW EVENT
Saturday, March 9
Come'on, let's take a
SEAL WATCH
!
Saturday, March 9, 10 AM.
The
Black Hawk is donating an exciting trip on Saturday, March 9, to view the many seals who winter off New London.
It's a 2 1/2 -3 hours
round-trip and a fund raiser for NLMS.
The seals are actually Maine natives who make Long Island Sound their winter home. On this trip, we'll leave from Niantic and head out to Little Gull and Plum Islands.
Bring your camera and binoculars. We'll bring the hot chocolate and cookies!
The cabin on the boat is heated, but we suggest you wear deck shoes or boots and very warm clothing for the trip.
Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for NLMS members and children ages 18 and younger. Call 860-447-2501 with your questions or sign up online today

Attendees also receive free admission to the nearby Custom House Maritime Museum at 150 Bank Street, New London
www.nlmaritimesociety.org. In March, the museum is open Thursday through Sunday from 1 to 5 PM.
The seal photo,
above, was taken by a guest on our seal trip with the
Black Hawk.

Right now, we are trying to raise $5,200 to fund an architectural survey of Race Rock Lighthouse, We are trying to match a donor's gift of $5,500 and already have raised $300.
We would appreciate your support.
There are many ways you can help preserve our local lighthouses: donate, volunteer for a work party this summer, .

~ the most searched topic on Google on February 15 was not about the furlough or an impending national emergency, but the question 'What is love?'.
We also got some tips on marketing your business.
We were lucky to have two USCGA cadets help us with some tricky projects on Saturday.
Santa is from Madagascar and misses the warmth.
Spencer is from Minnesota and misses the cold. Both live too far from home to go home for the long weekend. But they were happy to help out at the Custom House and we were grateful to have them.
