Public Policy Update from the desk of Bryan Fox, VP of Public Policy

This week we look forward to State budget updates, the City Manager’s budget presentation this evening, County Commissioners‘ Budget Work Session on Tuesday afternoon, and City Council Work Session on Thursday afternoon as well as welcoming the NC Chamber’s Transportation & Infrastructure Summit to Durham on Thursday. As additional issues persist at the state and local levels, we will keep you updated but consider getting involved by helping fill a vacancy on City & County Boards & Commissions, and continue to reach out anytime.

DPS. Durham City, Durham County to Co-Host Day of Remembrance

Leaders of Durham Public Schools, the City of Durham, and Durham County have called for a Day of Remembrance on Monday, May 15, 2023. The Day of Remembrance calls on all Durham residents to participate in a moment of silence at 10 a.m. Public statements will be made at the CCB Plaza downtown, near the Major the Bull statue, at 5:30 p.m.

The special observance will represent a continued show of unity to support youth safety and wellness; a remembrance of youth lost to violence; and, a collaboration between the three local governing bodies.
