Purpose of a Mastermind GroupA mastermind group brings together a small group of people who are motivated to take their business to a new level.

The desired outcome of the 8-week study is to increase your awareness and understanding of how to work ON your business to help it grow in a productive, successful way.

As we move through each lesson, we will bring together our ideas and opinions to shape and mold our understanding of the material in a way that is far superior to simply reading a book on our own. We will be combining all of our minds to becoming a master mind.

Disparities in Health and Health Care: How to Advocate and Work Towards Solutions

Health inequities are differences in health status or in the distribution of health resources between different population groups, arising from the social condition in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age. We know these exist in our communities but what are some of the solutions, how can we work towards them, and how can we advocate for ourselves?

Join us for our Power Inclusion for a panel of health experts as they discuss ways we can work towards health equity.

Public Policy Update from the desk of Bryan Fox, VP of Public Policy

Amid a successful kickoff to college football season, state budget considerations continue and recent local developments include increased Voter ID awareness efforts, the continuation of the Simplifying Codes for Affordable Development amendment package, and the joint Comprehensive Land Use Plan public hearing. Upcoming meetings we are monitoring include tomorrow afternoon’s City Council Work Session. As additional issues persist, we will keep you updated but remember that many of our priorities are shared by the US Chamber and NC Chamber at the federal and state level respectively, consider getting involved locally by helping fill a vacancy on City & County Boards & Commissions, and continue to reach out anytime.

Businesses - DPS and Our Future Workforce Needs You!

On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Durham Public Schools will be hosting its inaugural event titled Acceler8!

Acceler8 is a career exploration day for all eighth-grade DPS students hosted by Durham Public Schools, Durham Public Schools Foundation, and local employers. This event is a one-day opportunity for both large and small companies to expose students to the industry in which they work. This event will broaden students' perspectives on the world of work and allow them to explore their future career opportunities in Durham.

With the help from employers like you, Acceler8 will be a stepping stone to ensure that all students in DPS are Future Ready for any post-secondary opportunity path they choose to take.

You are invited to participate in the event by setting up an exhibit that will provide engaging activities to introduce students to your industry. Participants are asked to be present for the entire event.
