Public Policy Update from the desk of Bryan Fox, VP of Public Policy

It was great to kickoff the holiday season with so many of you, as well as hear commitment to continued partnership with the business community from outgoing Mayor Elaine O’Neal & Mayor-elect Leonardo Williams at our Leadership Forum & Holiday Reception. Congratulations again to RDU CEO Michael Landguth, this year’s well-deserved Duke Energy Citizenship & Service Award honoree! Upcoming meetings we are monitoring include the County Commissioners today and City Council tonight and Thursday. As additional issues persist we will keep you updated but remember that many of our priorities are shared by the US Chamber and NC Chamber at the federal and state level respectively, consider getting involved locally by helping fill a vacancy on City & County Boards & Commissions, and continue to reach out anytime.

Candidate Filing for 2024 Elections

Candidate filing for most contests in the 2024 elections begins at noon on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, and ends at noon on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023.

Depending on the office sought, candidates will file their Notice of Candidacy and pay their filing feeseither at their county board of elections office or with the State Board of Elections at the N.C. State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. (See below for detailed information.)

The 2024 primary election is March 5, 2024. The general election is Nov. 5, 2024.
