The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St., will host the fourth annual Wake Forest Home & Garden Show on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 25, from noon-4 p.m. Presented by Mitchell Heating & Cooling, the free two-day event will feature over 50 local experts showcasing the latest in home improvement products, services and features . 

As a bonus, this year’s Home & Garden Show will again include a Shopping Marketplace featuring local art, handmade decor and various home products available for purchase. Sponsored by Southern Suds & Gifts, the marketplace will include everything from handmade items and custom wreaths to popular kitchen, cleaning and storage products.
The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day. Police services will not be interrupted, but other Town services, including sanitation and bus service, will be affected.
The Human Relations Council is soliciting youth (ages 10-18) and adult (ages 19 and older) nominations for the 10th Annual Good Neighbor of the Year Award. The award recognizes Wake Forest residents who work to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods without seeking recognition for their efforts.
Spend a couple evenings at E. Carroll Joyner Park with family and friends, while enjoying some foot-tapping, finger-snapping good times during the 2019 Concerts in the Park. Sensory Expressions will headline the Sept. 1 concert followed by Legacy Band on Sept. 8. Both free performances are scheduled from 5-7 p.m. in the Joyner Park amphitheater, 701 Harris Road. 
Wake Forest High School (WFHS) will kick off the 2019-20 school year on Monday, Aug. 26. Due to ongoing construction along Stadium Drive, Wake Forest officials are reminding parents, students and other drivers about morning and afternoon traffic patterns designed to help alleviate congestion and ensure everyone’s safety. 
"Wake Forest Unplugged...Get Connected" is Sunday, Sept. 1, at E. Carroll Joyner Park. The event invites area residents to disconnect from their smart phones, computers and other electronic devices and reconnect with their community, friends and family by engaging in healthier, more active pursuits.
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department will close Holding Park Aquatic Center (HPAC) on Monday, Sept. 2, and conclude a successful inaugural season. As of Aug. 14, over 20,000 people had visited the facility so far this year. 
The Wake Forest PRCR Department will offer a free self-defense class for women on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road. Instructors from Krav Maga Raleigh will teach participating women a variety of techniques to avoid danger and defend themselves if necessary.
You're invited to listen to great music and dine outside, while enjoying the end of the summer season, during Wake Forest's Music at Midday weekly concert series. The free music series begins Thursday, Sept. 5, and continues each Thursday through Sept. 26. 
The Wake Forest PRCR Department will offer a free adult yoga class Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White St. Geared for participants ages 16 and older, the introductory class will emphasize the healing benefits of yoga with slower movements and connection to the breath.
This year’s series gets underway with the “Sunshine Club Music & Movement Class,” a weekly healing arts course offered on Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-noon.
Forest Moon Theater will present “Steel Magnolias” Friday-Sunday, Sept. 20-23 and 27-29, at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre. Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students/seniors.
The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre is inviting area residents to celebrate the diversity of our community by attending the second annual Trung Thu Moon Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and children.
The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre will present “Angelina Ballerina The Musical” on Friday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 plus tax for the 11 a.m. show and $12 plus tax for the 6:30 p.m. performance.
 
The Renaissance Centre is currently accepting film submissions via FilmFreeway for the the 2 nd Annual Wake Forest Film Festival on Friday-Saturday, March 13-14, 2020. Entitled “A Light in the Forest,” the event will spotlight passionate, creative and thought-provoking movies by some of today's most promising and accomplished local, national and international filmmakers. 
The Greenways Advisory Board is inviting volunteers of all ages to sign up to clean up the Smith Creek Greenway and plant bulbs along the trail. Participants will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Smith Creek Soccer Center, 690 Heritage Lake Road, for a brief orientation.
The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre will kick off the 2019-20 “Rockin’ the Forest” music series on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. with one of our area’s most popular party bands – Hip Pocket. 
For the third consecutive year, families, dance enthusiasts and the public will celebrate dance and music during the Wake Forest Dance Festival (WFDF). This year's event will take place Saturday, Oct. 5, at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road. Admission is free.
Town of Wake Forest and Republic Services crews will "tag" residents that violate trash, recycling and yard waste collection guidelines. Town sanitation customers may receive a Non-Collection Notice for a variety of reasons, including several common violations.
Area residents are invited to the 36 th Wake Forest Memorial Flag-Raising Ceremony on Monday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. The program will take place in Centennial Plaza, gateway to the Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St.
Hope House is now serving free, nutritious dinners to disadvantaged families and individuals at 6:30 p.m. every day except Saturday. Prepared by The Forks Cafeteria, the meals are provided on a dine-in or take-out basis through a partnership between Hope House and the Northern Community Food Security Team.
