IWWF APPROVES ASHLEY BAERG'S JUMP WORLD RECORD
The International Water Ski & Wakeboard Federation’s Disabled Council announced this week that it has ratified Canadian athlete Ashley Baerg's pending world jump record of 17.9 feet. Baerg, of Saskatchewan., set the record on Sept 7, at the 2018 USA Disabled National Championships in Padacah, KY, USA. Congratulations to Ashley!

CANADA NAMES TEAM FOR THE 2018 IWWF PAN AM WAKEBOARD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2018 Pan American Wakeboard Championships will be held Nov. 1-3 at Boca Laguna in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico.

Canada will be represented by:

CANADA NAMES TEAM FOR 2018 IWWF PAN AMERICAN WATER SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS
Water Ski Canada is pleased to announce its team for the 2018 IWWF Pan American Water Ski Championships. Canada will send a group of 32 skiers to the Pan American Championships taking place in Santiago, Chile, November 12-18, 2018.

“I am excited for this Team as we have strong representation in all events” said National Team Head Coach Steve Bush.

THE WWA WAKE PARK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY NAUTIQUE
The 2018 WWA Wake Park World Championships presented by Nautique Boats will host the most progressive riders from around the world. Nine Canadian athletes are competing.

The event will also feature EQUAL podium prize money for the Pro Men and Pro Women podium finishes in both Traditional and Features Only! The top 3 male and female competitors will be paid out equally as part of the WWA's long-term plan to continue progressing the sport of wake.

2020 WORLD WATER SKI SHOW TOURNAMENT APPLICATION
The  Mulwala Water Ski Club  in Yarrawonga, Australia, will host the next IWWF World Water Ski Show Tournament in March 2020.

Information about the application process for Canada's 2020 team will be released in the coming weeks.

The Major Events Committee are now accepting call of interest bids to host the 2020 National Water Ski Championships in an effort to provide more effective timelines for organizing committees. If interested, you are invited to view the host responsibilities and criteria outlined HERE

THE IMPLICATIONS OF CANNABIS LEGALIZATION FOR ATHLETES
On October 17th, 2018 Cannabis officially became legal across all Canadian provinces and territories. Regardless of Cannabis' legal status in Canada, it is still listed as 'Prohibited In Competition' on the  World Anti-Doping Agency  (WADA)’s  Prohibited List

TOWN HALL MEETINGS
Effective September 2018, Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada (WSWC) will pilot the transition from the traditional in person annual Congress to quarterly online Townhall meetings.

WSWC'S COACHING PROGRAM
Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada along with the Coaching Association of Canada will be placing an
emphasis on Coach Certifications in 2019. Any coach who has taken the Build the Skills or Learn
to Compete training course is eligible for the certification process. CLICK HERE
