CTE NEWS BRIEFS
DECEMBER 2019
Westover High and Jack Britt High Schools
attend Laser and Photonics Science Fair
Central Carolina Community College hosted the Laser and Photonics Science Fair at the Lillington Campus on December 3, 2019. Students from Westover High School (pictured above) and Jack Britt High School (pictured to the left with WOHS) competed in the event and toured the laser and electrical labs in order to prepare students for education and careers in laser technology. Students were inspired, challenged and empowered to prepare and present projects including the practical application of measuring temperature in building zones using lasers, the discussion of the blind spot of the eye, and experiments relating to the law of refraction, and specular and diffused reflection.

S FHS Students at FTCC

Seventy First High School Cybersecurity Essentials students recently visited FTCC. The students were dressed to impress and represented both CCS and CTE very well. They worked on a MITM (Man in the middle) attack and MAC spoofing labs thanks to FTCC partners EC-Council who provided the access.
Congratulations Broncos

Congratulations go out to the Spring Lake Middle FIRST Lego League Team.  Under the guidance of their STEM teacher, Tamisha Mack-Malloy, they competed against 22 other teams from around the region and won First Place in the Inspiration Award at the regional tournament held at Anne Chesnutt Middle.   Way to go Broncos!
