I’ve had the great opportunity to meet with essential workers, small businesses, and community based organizations of council district 18 to hear their experiences during COVID-19. With their permission, their stories are shared
here
.
I may not have the
budget
or the capacity to meet the needs of all my neighbors, but that’s not going to stop me now to try and mitigate my district needs, it’s all about meeting folks where they are. To reassure my neighbors that we as
Bronxites
will weather the storm, because the
Bronx
is no stranger to tough times. C
ollecting these stories in my district will live with me forever, I could tell from the crack in their voices, the look in their eyes and the feeling when we departed, that they were happy to be heard, and acknowledged. It's heavy stuff and will definitely shape what I need to do, once elected in to city council.
Thank you to the essential workers on the frontlines in council district 18,
I appreciate you!
– We must continue the fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, adequate funding and resources.
