Integrating the Practice of SoulCollage® Into Our Daily Lives
|

Did you know that you have superpowers? Everyone does, not just superheroes like Wonder Woman, Spider Man and Kamala Khan! Sure, you (probably) can’t fly or crawl up a ten-story building or shape your body at will, but I know for a fact that you do have a special gift or talent that comes easily to you when it’s hard for others.
Think about it now. Here are some questions to start you thinking about naming one or more of your own superpowers:
- What do people come to you for?
- What compliments do you get on a regular basis?
- What do you feel endlessly curious about?
- What are you freakishly good at?
- What feels like breathing to you, but is hard for others?
There’s no need to identify your superpower(s) right now. Take your time. Keep these questions in the back of your mind as you go through the coming days and weeks. Notice what’s special about you. Become curious about your unique gifts. Jot down some ideas.
When you’ve identified at least one superpower that is yours, try one or more of the activities suggested below.
|
|
Putting It Into Practice
1. How does it feel to know that you have superpowers of your very own?
2. Choose one of your superpowers. Give her/him/them a name. It can be a made-up name or a name of a superhero (however you define that word) you already know. The card above represents my SuperFacilitator card. This superpower of Facilitating is one thing that comes very easily to me (although not always simple) I call her Ruby Lee, after the woman who was my elementary school principal when I was just starting out as a teacher in 1978.
3. Make some notes in your journal about her/him/them:
- name
- gifts/talents/ability/superpower
- personal kryptonite
- mission
- clothing
- how did this part of you get its powers?
- current adventure
4. Create a SoulCollage® card for your super-powered inner superhero! Give this Neter space and room and a listening ear. What does it want to share with you about its story? How can you activate more of its energy in your life?

Need Some Time Away....
A Space to Relax & Create
in Community?
Well, you're in luck! We have a few spaces open in our annual June KaleidoSoul SoulCollage weekend retreat next month. Please join us!
Surfing the Waves of Life with SoulCollage®
June 15-18, 2023
Westfield MA at Genesis Retreat Center
We will use SoulCollage®, journaling, small group sharing, ceremony, and card readings in order to explore the theme of resilience as we surf the waves that life sometimes throws at us. There will be LOTS of time for card making, sharing our SoulCollage® cards and card making ideas, as well as doing readings with our Decks. The card making tables will be set up round the clock all three days, so you can make SoulCollage® cards while breakout sessions are going on, in the middle of the night, and in your jammies by the light of the moon if you want! BOOKS

Saint Maybe, by Anne Tyler. The beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning author brings us the story of Ian Bedloe, the ideal teenage son, leading a good with his family in Baltimore. That is, until a careless and vicious rumor leads to a devastating tragedy. Imploding from guilt, Ian believes he is the one responsible for the tragedy. No longer a star athlete with a bright future, and desperately searching for salvation, he stumbles across a storefront with a neon sign that simply reads: CHURCH OF THE SECOND CHANCE. Ian has always viewed his penance as a burden. But through the power of faith and the love of family, he begins to view it as a gift. After years spent trying to atone for his foolish mistakes, Ian finds forgiveness and peace in the life he builds for himself.
Soul Bird: Poems for Flying, by Deborah Anne Quibell. This is an extraordinary book of simple yet deeply meaningful poems about divine presence. As recommended by Kindred Spirit Christy Wesselman in our March Kindred Spirits SoulCollage class. Highly recommend.
This is Woman’s Work, by Dominique Christina. Calling Forth Your Inner Council of Wise, Brave, Crazy, Rebellious, Loving, Luminous Selves. How’s THAT for a subtitle? I absolutely love this beautifully written book about the archetypal energies that grace as well as challenge our lives. Perfect for anyone getting in touch with their inner Committee parts or their Council guides. I promise you will find yourself in several of these luminous selves. Lots of inspiration here for card making, and if you are a Facilitator, for your workshops! Highly recommend.
