Greetings!
Question

You have worked a lot with race horses, during all these years has anything changed for the better in the race industry, in your opinion? Is the training system of race horses more 'horse friendly' in the US? And in Europe now?

Answer

It's true I have worked in the racing industry most of my life. It has changed for the better. In my opinion the U.S. lags behind the rest of the world in making the needed changes. Scandinavia probably leads the world and the UK and Europe are still well ahead of the curve where the U.S. is concerned.

Sincerely,

An American Image with Spirit
This children’s tale, written congruent with real experience, is also great adult reading. It stirs up the best in us, reminds us of our call for humanity and connection with nature and our equine family in particular. Great read!

REDUCING VIOLENCE THROUGH WORKSHOPS
WITH HORSES GLOBALLY

These kids from Trebago Child Welfare have never had the opportunity to be with horses in a therapeutic context; and perhaps they won’t again. But studies have shown that even just a few hours with an inspiring person (or horse?) can have a permanent and positive effect in a young person’s life. We wish we could do more in Lead-Up. But at the very least we are planting a seed; a seed of non-violence, self awareness and resilience

MONTY'S CHALLENGE

Test yourself each week as I challenge you to answer the question below. I mean this. Sit down and write an answer. Don't wait for my answer next week. If you have been reading my Weekly Questions and Answers for the last six months, you should be in a position to do this. Send your answer to my team at:  askmonty@montyroberts.com

Why should you bother? Because it will help you focus. There is probably a comparable question in your life that needs answering... or will be. If you can gain insight into how to go about answering a practical question that is loosely related to your problem, this exercise will help you answer your nagging question. Then read my answer. I want all of my students to learn to be better trainers than me.That's good for you and good for horses!

NEXT WEEK'S QUESTION

You have a great love and a very special attention for mustangs and you've trained a lot of wild mustangs. Are the mustangs different from domestic horses? Why are they so special?
