Big names, big thanks to Eastbank!

We have the best business partners EVER ! Tom Dinsdale and his crew at Eastbank Contractor Appliances  proved that point again when they dropped off several new high-end appliances at our Portland ReStore recently. Gorgeous new floor models created real buzz and boosted our monthly sales figures. It makes our hearts go pitter-patter! Thanks, Eastbank!

Bring your small appliances, electronics and clothing to the Repair Fair where volunteers who enjoy tinkering and tailoring are happy to lend a hand.  Write it down:
Saturday, November 7 from 10am until 2pm!
Anna and Will: On the AmeriCorps road
"If we know exactly where we're going, exactly how to get there, and exactly what we'll see along the way, we won't learn anything." -- M. Scott Peck.
This month we say goodbye to Anna Pasterz and hello to Will Liebo, two AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers whose road of discovery led them to The ReStore. What's their back story?  (READ MORE)

Glisan Gardens: Team-building with Habitat

We love working at the ReStore, but every once in awhile it's good to get up close and personal to our Habitat mission. That's why staff at our three stores are volunteering at the Glisan Gardens Habitat for Humanity build four days in October and November. The ReStore and Gist Brands are co-sponsoring one of the homes there, and we're psyched to do some team-building while working with and for Habitat families. Site crews, homeowners and volunteers are working doubly hard with plans to get 12 families in their new digs before Christmas. Getting  our hands, knees and elbows dirty never felt so good!

In appreciation for their service,  The ReStore is
offering a 25% discount off all full-priced  merchandise (look for the red price tags) to active-duty, retired and inactive military veterans on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11.

Something new on the road!
Beep! Beep! Keep your eyes glued to the road and you might spot the ReStore's new look. We're giving our donation pickup trucks and Salvage Service truck needed makeovers. It's a reminder of the fun of discovery at The ReStore--
and that you can schedule a donation pickup online. We expect to roll these beauties out in just a few weeks.
Gordon Alan Eastman: 1955-2015

On October 1, the ReStore lost a great friend.  Gordon Alan Eastman spent his whole life working with his hands. He was not only a master craftsman with 40-plus years experience in retail, but an accomplished self-taught pianist who had his own band (Doubletake), his own remodeling and carpentry business, his own slot car race track in Lake Oswego (Red Line Speedway) and his own way of greeting the world with a gentle spirit and a welcoming smile.
For over three years, Gordon gave his time to the Beaverton ReStore, often using his carpentry skills to build custom shelves, furniture and booth displays. By all accounts, Gordon was a rare and special person who made things better for those around him. People just wanted to hang out with him. According to Gordon, one of the best things about volunteering at The ReStore is that there is always work to be done, and always an opportunity to utilize his skills to accomplish it.
In September , Gordon was hired by Willamette West Habitat for Humanity as a construction leader. His family said he loved what he was doing with his whole heart. And we loved him, too.
