ANNOUNCEMENTS
Big bike riding event for Sullivan and Anishinabe on Wednesday, October 11 from 3-5 p.m.  

MPS Culinary and Wellness will be holding a 2.5 mile fun bike ride through the community/neighborhood of Sullivan School. 

MPS food truck and several dignitaries will be there. It starts and ends at Sullivan. 
The Discover Healthcare Careers Event is designed for those in high school who are interested in healthcare and want to learn more about a variety of career options.
 
As an attendee, you’ll be able to:
*Get hands-on practice in our Simulation Lab and take a career for a spin
*Hear from current healthcare professionals about their work, education, and career journey
*Learn how you can gain experience now at Abbott Northwestern Hospital to prepare you for a future healthcare career
From patient care to infection prevention, you’ll walk away feeling confident with a better idea of what might be a great fit for you and your future!

Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage month with MPS at Green Central from 11am-2PM on Saturday, October 7th. This is a cultutal APPRECIATION event that is open to all, particularly our bilingual dual language community. Help at our eco-craft table or warm clothes sharing table. Due to conflicting dual language school-based events, the multi-school Dia de los Muertos celebration has been moved to Friday, November 3rd from 4-8PM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Seeking cooks, artists, servers and small Latino businesses to promote!

Cap/Gown/Tassle are paid for by the school and you do not need to order separately.

The Career & College Center (CCC) will be present at conferences this Fall! Senior students and families are you worried about how to pay for college? You are welcome to stop by the CCC during conferences to learn more about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). There are some big changes this year regarding student aid with the FAFSA. The CCC FAFSA sessions will take between 30-45 minutes, there will be a short presentation regarding the changes and time to create your own FAFSA IDs for the FAFSA application. 

There will be three sessions that you can choose to attend:
Tuesday, October 17th at 4:30 PM in room 161 
Wednesday, October 18th at 11:00 AM in room 207
Wednesday, October 18th at 1:00 PM in room 207

Feel free to bring other college and career related questions to these sessions!

REPEATS
Ready, Set, FAFSA is back! This series of free virtual events runs Tuesday evenings in October. With the coming 24-25 FAFSA changes, these sessions will cover the college application process, how to create a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID), general financial aid information, and how to search and apply for scholarships.
 
  • Register using the QR Code provided.
  • All sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Somali, Hmong and Karen.
  • Students who attend a session or watch one of the recordings will be eligible to win a $500 scholarship!
  • A second series will launch in January and will include FAFSA and MN Dream Act information.
  • These sessions are a collaborative effort between the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, ECMC The College Place and Minnesota Goes to College.
