Library Receives Town Annex Proceeds
The North Kingstown Free Library Corporation was very excited and grateful to receive $94,000 from the proceeds of the town’s sale of the library’s original location on 55 Brown Street. The library will be making some much-needed updates to the interior of the current location on 100 Boone Street and these funds will help to make that possible!

Catch the Reading Wave
During the month of February, The North Kingstown Educational Foundation is hosting a month-long town-wide read-a-thon to raise funds to support the North Kingstown School District.

The NKEF provides grants to the faculty and staff for activities, materials, programming, curriculum above and beyond the school budget.

Anyone can register for the Read-A-Thon! Any business, restaurants, organization, neighborhood or club can create a team. Max number of team members is 25.

Find more information, a calendar of events, and register on NKEF website.
The former Wickford Elementary School now sits empty on the hill next to the library, but in 1958 it was bursting with life. Due to a recent population explosion of families moving to town to work at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station, the school was filled to capacity on a daily basis. A recent donation of 1958-1959 school photo album shows classroom portraits of the 21 classrooms housed in the building at that time and includes the names of all students and teachers pictured.
