People across the diocese have gathered together this Easter to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Please find a selection of pictures from churches across the diocese here on our website.
This year’s Chrism Eucharist has taken place at Ripon Cathedral with clergy and lay ministers renewing their vows in a service that included the blessing of holy oils. Bishop Nick presided over the Maundy Thursday ceremony at which he thanked those present for their staunch commitment during the two years of the pandemic. Read more here
Eight people from across our diocese have been recipients of royal Maundy gifts this year. Individuals have been nominated from within the diocese who have served their churches and areas faithfully for many years. Read more here
Halifax Minster are hosting an interfaith conference on mental health and wellbeing during this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week. The conference, taking place on Wednesday, May 11, will feature workshops and a drama presentation and a free vegetarian lunch. Read more here
Ripon Cathedral Beer Festival returns for another year on Bank Holiday Monday, May 2, following a three-year break due to the COVID pandemic. Visitors to the festival will enjoy live music, award winning beers, refreshing ciders, wine and Pimms plus delicious hot food, all served in the Dean’s Garden, against the backdrop of the beautiful Ripon Cathedral. Accepting Applications for Lay Ministry Pathways now
The latest deadline for all lay ministry pathways (LLM, LPM, LWL) is 12 noon on Tuesday, May 31 to allow for the necessary interviews and safeguarding checks to take place. Further information for the Licensed Lay Ministry Pathway may be found here, for the Lay Pastoral Minister Pathway may be found here and for the Lay Worship Leader Pathway may be found here.
Our stewardship team are visiting towns all over the diocese to talk about giving this spring and summer. Covering topics such as giving reviews, online and contactless giving, grants, treasurer support and the PGS, these full day events will be of interest to Clergy and church leaders. This new lay ministry pathway is for those unable to commit to becoming Licenced Lay Ministers but still feel called to a preaching ministry on an occasional basis. It includes eight sessions, plus a full day of practical preaching experience. It takes place on Tuesday evenings, 7-9pm, on zoom starting Tuesday, May 17. Find further details on how to apply here. This webinar is for all and anyone who cares about combating climate change. It will start with a scriptural reflection to help us understand the gospel response to climate change. Bradford Cathedral will be hosting the launch of the Yorkshire Heritage Way. A 4-day inaugural walk will take place following the launch, arriving at Ripon Cathedral on the Monday. You can find out more here.

Christians around the world are being offered the opportunity to gather in unity and hope at this time of unprecedented instability. The Leadership Conference from Alpha is for everyone, everywhere – and people from around the world have already signed up to attend the online event, which will be aired in different time slots to allow everyone the chance to participate. Find out more here

On bank holiday Monday award winning beers, refreshing ciders, wine and Pimms will be served in the Dean's Garden, with the backdrop of the beautiful Ripon Cathedral. The day will include live music, good food and children's activities. Tickets are available online or on the gate.

This club meets monthly to share opinions and views. The next will be held online via Zoom. 21st Century Nature Poetry from British poets such as Simon Armitage, Carol Ann Duffy, Rowan Williams, Ruth Padel and Malcolm Guite. Flower Festival celebrating the Platinum Jubilee
17th, 18th and 19th June
70 Glorious Years - a Flower Festival celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth, to be held on 17, 18 and 19 June at St Andrew's Church, Kildwick. Opening Friday evening and then from 10am on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Refreshments will be available.

The Diocese of Leeds is pleased to share its toolkit for churches as part of its strategy for achieving carbon net zero by 2030: Saving Creation. The toolkit invites churches to start on the pathway to carbon net zero by taking six steps towards the goal. Access it here
Living in Love and Faith, The Church of England’s landmark set of resources on questions of identity and which draws together the Bible, theology, science and history with powerful real-life stories has now been published. The product of three years’ work includes a 480-page book, a series of films and podcasts, a course and an online library of other publications. Find more here
