This year’s Chrism Eucharist has taken place at Ripon Cathedral with clergy and lay ministers renewing their vows in a service that included the blessing of holy oils. Bishop Nick presided over the Maundy Thursday ceremony at which he thanked those present for their staunch commitment during the two years of the pandemic. Read more here

Eight people from across our diocese have been recipients of royal Maundy gifts this year. Individuals have been nominated from within the diocese who have served their churches and areas faithfully for many years. Read more here

Halifax Minster are hosting an interfaith conference on mental health and wellbeing during this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week. The conference, taking place on Wednesday, May 11, will feature workshops and a drama presentation and a free vegetarian lunch. Read more here

Ripon Cathedral Beer Festival returns for another year on Bank Holiday Monday, May 2, following a three-year break due to the COVID pandemic. Visitors to the festival will enjoy live music, award winning beers, refreshing ciders, wine and Pimms plus delicious hot food, all served in the Dean’s Garden, against the backdrop of the beautiful Ripon Cathedral. Accepting Applications for Lay Ministry Pathways now |
The latest deadline for all lay ministry pathways (LLM, LPM, LWL) is 12 noon on Tuesday, May 31 to allow for the necessary interviews and safeguarding checks to take place. Further information for the Licensed Lay Ministry Pathway may be found here, for the Lay Pastoral Minister Pathway may be found here and for the Lay Worship Leader Pathway may be found here.

This new lay ministry pathway is for those unable to commit to becoming Licenced Lay Ministers but still feel called to a preaching ministry on an occasional basis. It includes eight sessions, plus a full day of practical preaching experience. It takes place on Tuesday evenings, 7-9pm, on zoom starting Tuesday, May 17. Find further details on how to apply here. This club meets monthly to share opinions and views. The next will be held online via Zoom. 21st Century Nature Poetry from British poets such as Simon Armitage, Carol Ann Duffy, Rowan Williams, Ruth Padel and Malcolm Guite. Flower Festival celebrating the Platinum Jubilee |
70 Glorious Years - a Flower Festival celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth, to be held on 17, 18 and 19 June at St Andrew's Church, Kildwick. Opening Friday evening and then from 10am on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Refreshments will be available. |
