The Church of England is providing a range of resources to help churches and parishes to mark the Coronation of King Charles III, an historic moment in the life of our nation. It includes a Book of Daily Prayer, liturgical resources, social media graphics and more. Read more here

Services have taken place across the diocese marking the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as people continue to pray for peace and justice in the region. At lunchtime at Holy Trinity Boar Lane in Leeds people from across the city gathered to pray, reflect and light candles. Read more here

One year on from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Nick Baines, has written powerfully reflecting on the last year and the path ahead. Writing in the Yorkshire Post, Bishop Nick looks at how we reached the point we are at now, and where we might go from here, and calls for realistic thinking about the uncertain future we all face. Two people from the Diocese of Leeds were part of a meeting of Anglicans from around the world when they took part in the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) in Ghana last week. Canon Jane Evans, a member of General Synod for the Diocese of Leeds, was elected as the Church of England’s lay representative to the ACC. Read more here

Digital giving has got another boost in our diocese, thanks to a recent clinic offered to help churches make the most of the opportunities offered. The digital clinic was the first of its kind, and offered opportunity for churches to seek help and advice with how to get started with digital giving, or how to improve the digital giving offer that they already have. This year, those involved with children and youth ministry across the diocese are invited to TEND, one-day conferences designed to thank, encourage and equip. Attendees will have the option to book onto one of three dates, each hosted at one of our three cathedrals in Bradford, Ripon and Wakefield. Read more here

The Church Organiser, a free room and events management tool which integrates with A Church Near You, is soon to be launched. Come along to one of two free training events at Church House on Friday, April 28 to help your church get set up and learn how it can help. A starting or gathering point for people exploring new youth work in their parish. Over the course of an hour long online session, the Children, Young People and Families Team want to hear about your journey, share some stories, help you make some plans and invite you to commit to continue planning. The ‘Being With’ course is excellent for enquirers. Over ten weeks the course focuses on the experience of being in community as we explore Christian faith together. A ‘taster’ three session course is planned for March 2023, so you can see how the course runs and whether it will suit your context. Find out more here

St Cuthbert’s lecture, Bolton Priory

This year’s St Cuthbert’s lecture is taken by Peter Oborne who is speaking on “The Fate of Abraham: Why the West is Wrong About Islam." Peter Oborne will argue that the West has deliberately misrepresented Islam and will explain the myths and fabrications that have contributed to views that Islam is trying to overturn our liberal values.
