Revd Dr Tracey Raistrick is to be the next Minister Among Deaf People for our diocese. Starting in the New Year, Tracey will take on the role from the recently retired Revd Mark Smith. She will also continue in her current position, as Priest in Charge of St John’s Ingrow, on a half time basis. Find out more here

Interfaith Week 2022 was marked across the whole diocese with a full slate of events and activities. Amongst the activities, Roses for Peace were handed out in in Huddersfield, which are white roses with words for peace from the Holy Bible & Holy Qu’ran attached. Find out more here

People all across the diocese gathered on Sunday, November 13 to mark Remembrance Sunday 2022. Acts of remembrance took place in churches and at memorials up and down our region, with readings, prayers and silences held. A gallery of images from acts of remembrance can be found here.

Education experts from across our diocese and beyond gathered for the annual School Leaders’ Conference, the first to be held since the outbreak of COVID-19. Some 150 delegates took their seats at the Queen's Hotel in the heart of Leeds to be welcomed by Bishop Helen-Ann, chair of the Diocesan Board of Education and Richard Noake, Diocesan Director of Education. A new Rhythm of Life Lent Course has been created for 2023. Run by the diocese, the Rhythm of Life is an initiative that offers an opportunity for Christians to re-align and keep Christ at the centre of our daily lives. After a series of difficult Christmases, Churches across the diocese are encouraged to welcome people back to services and events this Advent, as part of the Church of England’s annual Christmas campaign. It aims to support, equip and inspire churches to invite as many people as possible to church this December. Find out more here

Bishop Nick was at Wakefield Cathedral last Sunday as four new members of the Diocese of Leeds College of Canons wre installed at an evensong. They included Bishop Arun Arora, Bishop of Kirkstall, who was installed alongside the Revd Anne Russell, Team Rector of Seacroft in Leeds. Find out more here

Diocesan Environment Officers from across the Northern Province, including our own Jemima Parker, were the guests of the Archbishop of York at Bishopthorpe Palace recently. In a Eucharist service the Most Revd Stephen Cottrell spoke of how climate change was the greatest threat for humanity and all of God’s creation at the moment. Find out more here

The Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of Leeds is supporting the #nomore1in3 campaign this year in partnership with Women’s Aid, looking to help end gender-based violence. Gender-based violence is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. Find out more here

A new devotional book, written by the Rt Revd Chris Edmondson, assistant bishop, and Karen Openshaw, founder of Karen Openshaw Consultancy, has recently been published. It aims to offer something simple to slot into the busyness of the day, yet engaging enough to act as a spiritual discipline perhaps in a season like Advent or Lent. Find out more here

A junior Altar Server at one of our Leeds churches has been raising money by donating some of her hair in a good cause. Millie, one of the junior Altar Servers at Holy Trinity Cookridge, has raised over £600 in sponsorship for the Little Princess Trust by having 18 inches cut off her hair. Find out more here
