As part of the National Day of Reflection, one of our hospital chaplains has looked back on the past year. The Revd Ben Rhodes, Head of Chaplaincy at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has written about his experience of chaplaincy in the time of COVID, and how he has seen first-hand the effects it has had on the NHS and its staff. The Church of England is supporting the ‘VaccinAid’ campaign which aims to help fund the biggest vaccination drive in history. Led by UNICEF UK and Crowdfunder, the campaign offers people a practical way to give thanks for their Covid-19 vaccination, by making a voluntary donation to help pay for jabs for others around the world. Wakefield Cathedral has officially welcomed Revd Canon Peter Farley-Moore as its new Canon Missioner as it prepares to open its doors once again to the diocesan community. Revd Peter brings a huge range of experiences to the role and talks about his journey to Wakefield and hopes for the future in a series of questions found here.

One of our churches in the Leeds area has been playing host to two new four-legged friends to help keep the vegetation under control; they are Pablo and Geoffrey, alpacas. St Wilfrid’s Calverley has a team of grazing animals to help keep the churchyard tidy, made up of three goats, and now, the two alpacas, gifted to the church by a local resident. Read more here

One Year On is a video to mark the anniversary of lockdown produced by church and community groups from the Halifax area and with a special message by the Bishop of Huddersfield. The video aims to provide an opportunity to reflect, to thank those who have gone above and beyond, and to help us look forward in hope for the future.

One of our Leeds area parishes has shown its green credentials by achieving a double bronze. The church of St Mary Magdalene East Keswick, in the parish of Bardsey, has recently achieved its A Rocha Bronze Eco Church award, joining the other church in the parish, All Hallows Bardsey. Read more here

Living and Learning Online

Every quarter you can come together with others who are working out what God’s call means to them. The Fellowship will be joined by the Diocesan Director of Ordinands and Vocations Revd Canon Derek Walmsley. The aim of the session on Tuesday, April 13 is to discuss the important changes to the new Discernment Process, which comes into effect in autumn 2021. Find out more here

Bradford Cathedral has put together an Easter Sunday Service video for families, premiering at 5pm and featuring dramatisations, readings and images of the key events of Holy Week, with music and worship. Pre-service resources are available here.

On Good Friday at 12pm and 3pm the Wintershall's Passion of Jesus Play will be live streamed on Facebook. Sadly, the play that is normally performed live from Trafalgar Square is unable to take place this year. However, the recording from 2019 will be made available on Facebook here.

This is a free, 6 week course held entirely on zoom which aims to help people improve their understanding of mental health through information, sharing experiences and activities. A year on from the first lockdown caused by Covid-19, the Church of England along with hundreds of other organisations is came together to remember those who have died, and to show support for everyone who has been bereaved.
