Christ the King in Battyeford is welcoming children and their grown-ups to a free breakfast club every Friday in August and fifty joined in for food and fun on its first day. Warm croissants, toast, cereal, juice and hot drinks are served. Crafts and play areas, inside and outside are set up for children aged up to 11. Find out more here
In recognition of their commitment to live and work more sustainably, the community at St Stephen’s Church in Steeton have been given the bronze Eco-Church award from A Rocha UK. The award covers areas of life such as the management and maintenance of church buildings and land and the environmental impact of the personal lifestyles within our congregations. Find out more here
Health and community needs across the Anglican Communion was a discussion topic at the Lambeth Conference and Dr Ben Walker from our diocese was part of those conversations. Ben, the Strategic Programme Manager for the diocese, has studied and written extensively on links between religion and global health. Find out more here
Did you know that the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust are actively looking for applications from churches seeking to do repairs and improvements? Churches don't have to be listed or classed as historic to be eligible for funding. The deadline for their next round of grants is Friday, August 26. Find out more here
In a newly published video, the team at St Peter’s Church in Morley share how their work with children and young people has experienced an encouraging journey of growth. Over the last couple of years, St Peter’s has seen an exciting increase in the number of children and families attending and exploring faith. Churches from all across our diocese are throwing their doors open and sharing their history as part of the Heritage Open Days initiative this September. As part of this many of our churches are also taking part in the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust’s Yorkshire Churches Day, on Saturday, September 10, celebrating the best of our region’s beautiful buildings. Kate Abbey, Bradford Cathedral’s Artist in Residence, has had her exhibition ‘As we journey together: an exploration of Faith in Bradford’ extended until Wednesday, August 31. Photographer Kate has been the Artist in Residence at Bradford Cathedral since October 2020. Find out more here
Curates from across the Diocese of Leeds will be sharing their wisdom with us this autumn. The ‘Broader Horizons’ series of online talks aims to take advantage of the wide range of specialisms our curates have, and offer opportunities to learn from them and be drawn into their enthusiasm for their subjects. Keighley and its parish church played host to the annual Yorkshire Day Civic Celebrations, welcoming the Deputy Lieutenant of Yorkshire, the High Sheriff of York, over 150 Lord Mayors and Mayors from across the county as well as the Chair of The Yorkshire Society. Find out more here
Festival angels are ready to help at Leeds Fest
Festival Angels is a Christian organisation, with one hundred and seventy volunteers who respond to the needs of the 85,000 people who attend Leeds Festival, one of the UK's major music events held at Bramham Park on the outskirts of Leeds. Find out more here

Starts Monday, September 12
While many good enquirers courses focus on new information about Christ (the head) or new feelings of Christ (the heart) or even new practices of Christ (the hands), this course focusses on a lived encounter of Christ (the gut). It is an immersive, improvised enactment of its theology. Find out more here
Tuesday, September 13
What happens when you want to run a project, but you haven’t got the equipment you need? Or the church wants to start a new group but hasn’t thought about the budget? This session aims to explore some of the aspects of finding funding; a bit of theory, a bit of theology, and then some of the options open to you. Find out more here
Wednesday, September 14
This webinar is for all and anyone who cares about combating climate change. Following the publication of the Saving Creation: Six Steps to Carbon Net Zero Church Toolkit, this webinar will start with a scriptural reflection. It will then look at the practical steps that a church can take to work towards becoming carbon net zero. Find out more here
Saturday, September 17
An opportunity for all Licensed Lay Ministers (Readers) to develop an understanding and build confidence in funeral ministry. It will be lead by Alan Stanley & Ann Nicholl and take place at Saint Philip's Church, Scholes, Leeds. Find out more here

Leeds School of Theology are pleased and excited to partner with Lighthouse West Yorkshire in facilitating a dynamic learning community which will serve Christians already working alongside the marginalised or who have a heart to pioneer in this area. Find out more here
Starting Tuesday, September 27
An online course taking place over 8 sessions and led by Canon Gordon Dey. It will explore the places and people of Jesus’ ministry.
Through scripture, contemporary writing and archaeological evidence you will discover anew how: ‘... the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.’ Find out more here
Starting Monday, October 3
Through a mixture of live lectures, discussion groups and assigned homework, this course will focus on a Christlike and prophetic response to the interrelated issues of climate breakdown, violence and conflict and racial injustice. The course is a partnership between Leeds School of Theology and Lighthouse West Yorkshire. Find out more here

The Diocese of Leeds is pleased to share its toolkit for churches as part of its strategy for achieving carbon net zero by 2030: Saving Creation. The toolkit invites churches to start on the pathway to carbon net zero by taking six steps towards the goal. Access it here
