Is your church preparing for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the extended bank holiday weekend? A range of resources for churches have been provided by the Church of England and HOPE Together, including a new contemporary hymn to be used in celebrations and Platinum Jubilee branded banners and posters. Christ Church, Sowerby Bridge has received more than £1600 from The National Lottery Community Fund, to help it mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. They received the funding from The National Lottery Community Fund’s Awards for All Programme, which provides funding to local projects across the UK every year. Find out more here
The Church of England today announced plans for a significant increase in funding for the next three years to support God’s mission and ministry across the country, supporting local parishes and growing many more new worshipping communities to serve the whole nation. Find out more here
Kirkby Malham Parish Church is welcoming hundreds of visitors to their first ever ‘Art in the Dale’ exhibition which features a wealth of local talent. Revd Sue McWhinney invited nine local artists to develop their ideas for an exhibition of painting, felt-work, and photography, all inspired by the landscape in which they lived. Find out more here
St Mary Magdalene in East Keswick has been awarded a Silver Eco Church Award, signalling another step forward in their journey to look after the environment. The Eco Church Award is run by A Rocha UK, a Christian charity working for the protection and restoration of the natural world, and rewards churches for implementing positive eco steps. Find out more here
St Wilfrid's founding role in creating Ripon Cathedral 1,350 years ago is being marked with celebrations that saw more than 2,000 visitors to the historic building in the opening weekend.
Dean John led the welcome to friends and newcomers to the specially-decorated church, which has been a place of worship since 672. Find out more here
A young member of one of our Ripon area churches has got to know a new fluffy friend, as part of a Lambing Service. Three-year-old Edith Hudspeth, of Selside, was presented with a lamb called 'Spot' by the Revd Stephen Dawson at the end of a Lambing Service at St Oswald’s Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Find out more here
St Peter’s Coniston Cold are celebrating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee with sponsored crowns, a community party and the ringing of the famous Bell Busk bell. Crowns are being decorated to be placed on a celebratory sign outside the church, and are sponsored, with donations going to the church. Find out more here
Members of Kairos Network Church featured in his years Harrogate Flower Show, talking about Forest Church and the benefits of worshipping outdoors. Revd Jen Bradley, curate at Kairos Network Church, and Catherine Burrage, youth leader at Kairos Church, were interviewed on the Human Gardener stage on Sunday, April 24, the final day of the flower show. Find out more here
Wilderness found at the back of Eldwick vicarage garden has been converted into space for the whole community to share. The Eldwick Church’s ‘Church in the Garden’ project started early in 2021 and thanks to a number of grants, donations, and much hard work by a team of volunteers, the garden is now open for all to enjoy. Find out more here

Accepting Applications for Lay Ministry Pathways now
The latest deadline for all lay ministry pathways (LLM, LPM, LWL) is 12 noon on Tuesday, May 31 to allow for the necessary interviews and safeguarding checks to take place. Further information for the Licensed Lay Ministry Pathway may be found here, for the Lay Pastoral Minister Pathway may be found here and for the Lay Worship Leader Pathway may be found here.
Our stewardship team are visiting towns all over the diocese to talk about giving this spring and summer. Covering topics such as giving reviews, online and contactless giving, grants, treasurer support and the PGS, these full day events will be of interest to clergy and church leaders. This new lay ministry pathway is for those unable to commit to becoming Licenced Lay Ministers but still feel called to a preaching ministry on an occasional basis. It includes eight sessions, plus a full day of practical preaching experience. It takes place on Tuesday evenings, 7 to 9pm, on zoom starting Tuesday, May 17. Find further details on how to apply here. Contact the Lay Ministry Administrator with any questions.

This webinar is for all and anyone who cares about combating climate change. It will start with a scriptural reflection to help us understand the gospel response to climate change. We will then look at the practical steps that a church can take to work towards becoming carbon net zero. Find out more here

There are many new build housing developments across our diocese. How should local churches respond? How can Neighbourhood Plans be influenced? What about schools and local services? This discussion-based event will build on the work of the diocesan New Housing Working Group and identify topics for in depth engagement at follow-up events. Find out more here

Are you bewildered by the online giving choices? Do you have online giving and it doesn’t seem to attract donations? Do you need ideas for promoting your online giving page? Join us at this hour long webinar. We'll be joined by our Stewardship Team and will show you how to get online giving, and where and how to publicise it afterwards. Find out more here

This club meets monthly to share opinions and views. The next will be held online via Zoom. 21st Century Nature Poetry from British poets such as Simon Armitage, Carol Ann Duffy, Rowan Williams, Ruth Padel and Malcolm Guite.
