Beth Am News of the Week
November 19 - 26th, 2020
Dear Fellow Congregants:

The onset of the coronavirus pandemic last spring forced us to suddenly suspend our search for the combined cantor/youth education director position, just as we were about to bring in three finalists for auditions and interviews. Although the public health outlook for the coming months is uncertain at best, we must now re-start our search to fill this extremely important position at Beth Am. Beth Am is fortunate that Marc Ershler has offered to resume his role as the Search Committee Chair. Rabbi Burg is also closely involved. Many of the previous committee members have also renewed their commitment and are supplemented by several new members to the Search Committee. This robust committee of congregants, Steve Adashek, Scott Bloomberg, Emily Gaines Demsky, TJ Intner, Sarah Kelley, Julian Krolik, Howard Maisel, Ana Pavich, Ann Saunders, Stu Schoenfeld, Jodi Segal, Ariel Winter, and Carol Zenilman, represent a spectrum of ages and interests. The committee encourages What is universally shared among the committee members is a love for and commitment to Beth Am.

This revived search process is beginning earlier in the calendar year than last year’s search and we hope the additional time will yield a large pool of highly qualified candidates. Our goal is to have responses and a “short list” of candidates by late winter 2021, enabling us to schedule in-person auditions and interviews before Pesach. I will keep the congregation informed as the work of the Search Committee progresses. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the process please feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Fishman
