for housing is less housing—

Project Endorsements

The Canopy

1009-1011 Gravenstein Highway North, Sebastopol

Generation Housing is thrilled to share our endorsement of “The Canopy” project.

City Ventures is proposing a new residential development called "The Canopy," featuring 80 townhome-style condominiums. The development will be situated on a 6.1-acre site currently zoned for Office/Light Industrial use. The Canopy will consist of 80 solar all-electric, three-story townhome-style condominiums. These homes will range from two to four bedrooms and will include the potential for approximately 16 ADA accessible accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to provide rental opportunities. Select homes will offer the option for personal elevators, enhancing ADA accessibility.

The proposed amenities at “The Canopy” include gardens, active and passive seating areas, children's play areas, and a meditation hammock garden. These features will be designed around the existing and proposed urban forests, creating a harmonious blend with the natural landscape. Additionally, a new, enhanced 6-foot-wide pedestrian pathway will connect the West County Trail to Gravenstein Highway on the south border of the site. A bicycle repair station will be installed at the connection point of the pathway to the Trail.

“The Canopy” aims to provide a vibrant, accessible, and sustainable living environment that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding community and natural landscape.

Generation Housing is grateful for City Ventures commitment to delivering desperately needed townhome-style housing options.

Gravenstein Commons

845 Gravenstein Highway North, Sebastopol

Generation Housing is pleased to announce our endorsement of the Gravenstein Commons.

This 22-unit permanent supportive housing (PSH) project, proposed by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, will provide critical housing solutions for those in need. One of the units will be reserved for an onsite manager, while the remaining units will be deed-restricted for individuals earning 30 percent or less of the Area Median Income. Supportive services will be provided onsite, including employment counseling and placement.

The location of this project to nearby essential services and the fact that it is redeveloping an underutilized site for PSH housing aligns well with the mission, vision, and guiding principles of Generation Housing.

Garden Square

1910 Sebastopol Road, Santa Rosa

Generation Housing is excited to share our endorsement of the Garden Square project.

The proposed project will be 5 stories, contain a total of 75 residential units, and include 6,815 sq.ft. of ground floor retail. A majority of the planned units (~40) will be two-bedroom units while the balance will consist of one-bedroom units. Four of these units will also be deed-restricted affordable units available to low-income residents making 60 percent of the Area Median Income.

Garden Square will feature a 2nd floor terrace, it is proximate to a major bus line, and it benefits from access to several essential and non-essential services within a half-mile radius of the project site. A convenience store, a bar, and laundry facilities are also envisioned for the 1st floor commercial spaces.

We are pleased to see this project proposed in such a central location. We look forward to the redevelopment of this site into a denser, more sustainable, mixed-use housing project that will provide greater benefit to the community.
