This Sunday - 10am
Christ Is Alive! Celebrate with us this weekend. Our choir will be singing on this the 3rd Sunday of Easter.
In Sunday's scripture, we see the travelers on the road to Emmaus declare that they were astounded by the news from the women who were the first witnesses to the Resurrection. These disciples remind us that Resurrection is unsettling. Eastertide is a time of joy, joy that sits alongside the astounding, displacing news that Love has conquered death."* Come learn to live as Easter people.
There is no Children's Church this Sunday.
Enter the building at the top of large staircase that faces Stockley Gardens (Rd).

Pastor's Prayer for the Week
For The Nation
Teach us, God of every nation,
to see every question of national policy in the light of our faith,
that we may check in ourselves and in others
every passion that makes for war, all ungenerous judgment,
all promptings of self-assurance, all presumptuous claims.
Grant us insight to recognize the needs and aspirations of other nations,
and remove our suspicions and misunderstandings,
that we may honor all people in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bring Your Food Donations Next Week
Fourth Sunday (April 26) is our monthly, Food Collection Sunday. Before our service begins at 10am, please place your non-perishable food, drinks, hearty snacks or canned goods into the basket near the altar. Pastor Britney will say a prayer for the food and those who will receive it.
If you forget your donation on Sunday, drop it off at the church office during the week.
Food suggestions include hearty snacks, canned goods such as tuna (pop top, if you can), cereal, boxed milk, water, instant coffee, sugar packets, and individual powdered drink packets that are added to bottles of water and dried fruit.
A lot of the food, particularly any perishables, will be taken to Ghent Area Ministry on Colonial Ave. The rest will remain here for those who ask us for food.
If you would like to volunteer to help with food collection, contact the church office at (757) 622-2843.

Children are Always Welcome at Ghent UMC
Our Children's Church* takes place each Sunday during our worship service, following the children's message. Children ages 3 through 5th grade meet down the hall from the sanctuary for an age-appropriate Bible lesson and related craft or activity.
Children are welcome to remain in the service and utilize the activity bags in the back of the church. On Sunday, April 19th, there will be no Children's Church.
Our nursery* is available for infants to age 3 beginning at 9:50am.
Our professional workers are CPR certified, and our staff and volunteers are fully background checked.
*Children's church and nursery are optional. You are welcome to keep your child(ren) in worship with you, if you prefer. Activity bags and rockers are in the back of the sanctuary, if you wish to use them.
A baby changing station is in the lobby. Go out the swinging door to the right of our Coffee Station. The changing station is near the staircase.
