The summer is coming to an end, and we hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable time.

As the summer closes, please remember to check back in with your clinician to update your schedule. Our calendars book fast, and we do not want to send clients to the waiting list. Your clinicians can be reached via email and text message.

988 Lifeline is Here: Everything You Need to Know

What is 988?

The new 988 Suicide and Crisis lifeline is a 24/7 call or text support that provides access to trained crisis counselors. The 988 lifeline is able to support individuals that are experiencing emotional distress such as:

  • thoughts of suicide
  • thoughts of self-harm
  • mental health or substance abuse crisis
  • any other type of emotional emergencies

You can call or text 988 and also chat with a live operator at 988lifeline.org. 988 is accessible anywhere in the United States and open 24/7, 365 days a year. Services provided by 988 operators are free and confidential

Why is 988 important?

The need for mental health support during times of crisis continues to grow, and this need was highlighted during the Pandemic as many people across the nation were left without access to mental health services. Some startling statistics from the past 2 years include:

  • that the U.S had 1 death by suicide about every 11 minutes
  • In people aged 10-34 years old, suicide is the leading cause of death
  • 13% of youth aged 12-17 report experiencing at least one major depressive episode.

Multiple studies show that people are less likely to feel suicidal, depressed, and overwhelmed after speaking with a counselor. In fact, people report feeling more hopeful and are able to identify life saving resources when they are able to connect with someone during a crisis.

Please be sure to spread the word about 988 with all your family, friends, and loved ones. In addition, consider saving 988 in your contact list should you experience a mental health crisis and need support.
