December: A time to review and reflect
The end of the year is a time to review and a time to reflect. For some, this is a happy time of reflection that includes an exhaustive review of the way life has evolved and improved. We exist on this planet to serve a purpose we are constantly shifting between the wins and losses that help us flow through challenging times.
As you reflect on 2022 and think about the year to come, and remember these tips as you begin your work toward moving forward.
-
Shift from negative to positive: instead of focusing on what didn’t happen this year, remind yourself of what you did accomplish. Journal small victories and take time out to engage in self-care. You could also spend time with friends or family, rest, or go to a new place and explore new possibilities.
-
Create realistic goals: Think small! Instead of setting large goals that are often hard to accomplish, think about setting small, measurable goals that are itemized down to the activities you accomplish day after day.
-
Take time for yourself: Having a full schedule is often a way to mask insecurities. However, rest is a necessary aspect of restoration. Take a nap, meditate, or even take a short walk so that you are more prepared to tackle the day ahead.
-
Review your barriers: Ask yourself the hard questions so that you are better prepared to move ahead. What prevented you from accomplishing those goals this year? What unexpected things happened, and how can you better manage your issues the next time they roll around?
-
Focus on things in your control: You only have the power to change yourself, and that is why you must focus on the things you can control.
We wish you and your family a wonderful new year and look forward to seeing everyone in 2023! If you find yourself struggling as we move into a new year, please reach out for support.
