Shelton will attend Shelton State and work at the mill as par t of his training for a combination of 40 hours per week. After completing the 3 year program, Shelton will have earned an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Technology and a guaranteed job with the Nucor electrical maintenance team.

The scholarship includes tuition, books, tools, fees, housing, travel and moving expenses, and hourly wages for time spent in the classroom and training. Shelton will be sponsored by Nucor Hertford County, where he will work upon completion of the Technical Academy!

Congratulations on a job well done, Shelton! An awesome accomplishment for a RIDGECROFT RAM.
Earl U. Capps, Jr. Scholarship Winner Announced
At this year's Middle & Upper School Awards Ceremony, we announced the 2019 Earl U. Capps, Jr. Scholarship winner as Matty Grace Gilliam (11th grade).

The Earl U. Capps, Jr. Scholarship is endowed through the North Carolina Community Foundation and in the past, has been given to a graduating Ridegecroft senior to offset college expenses. Starting this year, the Capps scholarship now awards $1,000 to one returning Ridgecroft upper school student to be applied to next year's tuition.

The scho larship recognizes students of high moral character, strong academic skills, someone who has a commitment to Ridgecroft through leadership, athletics or other special projects and someone who has spirit for giving back to the community. Nominations were collected from faculty and staff and reviewed by the academic standards committee.

A special thank you to the Capps family - Carole Everett, June Avery Chrismon and everyone at the North Carolina Community Foundation who helped make this scholarship possible.
