Vaughn Hillyard listening less incredulously to politicians and ready to go live!
Picture: Our friend Vaughn Hillyard is a national political correspondent for NBC and MSNBC. We are proud to claim him as one who grew up in our congregation. He is our speaker for the dinner. Below is his bio.
Vaughn Hillyard, a national correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC, was raised a son of Shadow Rock Church. For nearly three decades, he has remained close to the Shadow Rock faith community. Vaughn first began attending the church while at Shadow Rock Preschool, where he was a Butterfly and a Rainbow. He sang for years as a Gemstone, took part in Wednesday Express, Alternative Rocks, and Marketplace, was (and will forever be) an Earthling, an enthusiastic youth group participant, and a church camper. In his decade at NBC News based out of Washington, D.C., and New York, Vaughn has reported on human, policy, and political stories in all 50 states. He is currently covering the 2024 presidential election.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE, VOLUNTEER, AND FIND YOUR JOY WITH OUR SAFETY, SOUND, AND TECH TEAMS!!
Safety Team Looking for Team Members
The Safety Team is in dire need of "extra hands on deck" during services including weddings and funerals. Our team's main operations are to keep everyone safe using "eyes and ears" and to assist in medical emergencies. You can still be a member of the congregation during these events, though we might need your extra help in an emergency! We do provide first aid classes for our team each year. Please talk/email Bill Peterson with questions or to say you want to help us out.

Shadow Rock Offers Hybrid Worship Experience
We can be together on Sunday morning in three ways. Join us in person. Join us by way of Zoom so you can share with us your thoughts, prayers, and celebrations. This is a way to be online and interactive. Contact us so we can send you the Hybrid Worship Service and Zoom link as an email. Join us by way of YouTube by going to the Shadow Rock UCC YouTube channel. Share with your friends and family.
Here is an example of last Sunday's service.
We love the great things that have happened for people with our online presence. If you want to help us by volunteering to be a Zoom Host or Stream Master, please contact Pastor Ken at ken@shadowrockucc.org.

Susan Wadell
A UCC’er since 1957 discovering Shadow Rock was like “coming home” for me. Jerry and I with our two children (Shadow Rock preschoolers) joined the SR community in the mid 80’s. I plugged into the children’s education programming at church and soon began teaching at Shadow Rock Preschool. In 1992, Rev. Smith asked if I would be interested in working for the church. What a terrific decision for me: so began a wonderfully fulfilling and challenging time on the journey. Whatever job you can think of, I did.
In 2010 our first of five grandchildren was born, so Jerry and I retired and have been sharing stories of them with whomever will listen. Let me tell you about…
