Severe Storm Damages Mulungwishi Women’s School
in Republic of Congo
A former congregant and graduate of Drew Seminary, Pastor Felix Tshibang, who is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, reached out to our congregation for disaster support in response to the destruction that occurred at Mulungwishi Women’s School of the Seminary of Katanga Methodist University in Congo. On March 8, a severe storm destroyed most of the buildings on their campus including the health center, women’s dormitories and education buildings. This facility serves as vocational training center for wives of student pastors. Member, Dr. Vivian Bull, spent time at this school through her work with the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) and led us to support the women’s program in 2011.
The school relies mainly on donations. Immediate maintenance and repair of these structures is critical prior to the rainy season which will further deteriorate the buildings.
