What's Happening at UMC Madison 9/20/22
"To call yourself United Methodist is to be rooted in a theology that was tinkered with by an Anglican priest named John Wesley. The funny thing is, 240 years later, Wesley never wanted to create a new church, rather a movement that would change the world. His experiments in theology and connecting people give birth to the denomination we call home, but what does it mean to call yourself a United Methodist? During the month of September join us as we take a look at some of the elements that took a movement and created a new denomination."

A Thank You from Pastor Kate
Dear friends at the UMC in Madison,
I want to thank you for the generous farewell gifts that you collected for me. But more than that - I want to thank you for some of my very favorite years in ministry. Thank you for your friendship; for the opportunity to learn and grow and be shaped as a leader and as a disciple of Jesus in more ways that I ever imagined; for your prayers, encouragement, and thoughtfulness on the journey. I miss you all and think of UMC Madison every morning in my prayers. You have left a permanent mark on my heart and for that - I could not be more grateful.
Love,
Kate

We had a great visit with Sarah Phan and her friend Gordon Kojima on Sunday. Sarah's family came from Vietnam in 1980, sponsored by our church and spearheaded by Carolyn Currey. They were able to visit Carolyn and shared many happy memories.
The Phan family has thrived since coming to the US, and there are now 10 grandchildren among the 5 Phan children. Sadly, Diana, the 2d oldest daughter passed away, but Dad, Mom, Sarah, Peter, Christina and Linda are all doing well in California.

CAN YOU HELP OUR FRIENDS AT FAMILY PROMISE?
Diaper Shortage! The day center is running critically low on diapers. We especially need newborn and sizes 1 & 2 for some new babies in our programs, in addition to larger sizes as well. If you would like to donate a package of diapers, please contact Nora Godown at n.godown@familypromisemorris.org.
We are in need of new air conditioner units for families to keep cool this summer. A new window A/C unit provides much relief for an entire family and helps to prevent heat-related ailments. If you would like to donate a unit or funds for one, please contact Nora Godown at n.godown@familypromisemorris.org.
