Access & Engagement

The Access & Engagement Team lead the Homelessness Task Force June meeting and took part in several events hosted by the City of Wichita related to the proposed Multi-Agency Campus that will serve our unhoused population in Sedgwick County.

The Task Force presented its strategic initiatives for the coming year, focused on increasing affordable housing, expanding street outreach teams, and continued coordination among our emergency service providers. The PPMC is proud to play a part in the community-wide goal of achieving “functional zero” and ending homelessness in Wichita and Sedgwick County.

Applied Research & Collaboration

The Applied Research & Collaboration team met with the Wichita Collective Impact 2024 Smart Summer grantees this morning to discuss data collection. Jamie presented the online tool the grantees will use to record the pre-test and post-test scores for the various literacy and numeracy measures for kindergartners and first, second, and third graders in 67214.

The individuals from these organizations were very receptive to the online tool, which aims to streamline the data reporting process from their respective programs.

Talent & Organizational Success

The Talent & Organizational Success team delivered a virtual Time Management training session to Local Government Network members and general attendees. Participants learned various tips and tricks to enhance their work efficiency and effectiveness.

Additionally, the Talent team kicked off the Wichita Open Benefitting KU Wichita Pediatrics at Crestview Country Club. They supported Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas by managing logistics for the Women's Leadership Breakfast and distributing tickets to the hospitality suites and chalets. Over 200 women registered for the breakfast, which featured a dynamic panel of leaders including, Becky Tuttle, Wichita City Council; Danielle Johnson, Wichita Habitat for Humanity; Sheree Utash, Wichita State University Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology; Sunee Mickle, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas; and Janice Perkins, Capacity Communications.

Operations

The Operations team organized our quarterly meeting with the PPMC Advisory Board of Champions. The board meets quarterly to offer strategic advice to the organization’s management. This framework supports best practice principles, strategic thinking, and networking, helping PPMC enhance public service to better serve your community.

Thank You For Joining Us

The City/County Management Summit welcomed over 50 attendees to engage around topics including; the Kansas economy, recruiting today's workforce, attacking the housing crisis, hiring a chief, what to know about code enforcement, and managing first responder services. Attendees also heard about CivicPRIDE, how INK can help cities and counties, and updates from the Hugo Wall School. The PPMC was happy to partner with Hutton and BHC who sponsored the event. Thanks to all who attended!

At the Women in Public Service summer luncheon, attendees had the opportunity to hear from Robyn Chadwick, who shared valuable insights on the current state of mental health services in our community and the impactful work of the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Coalition (MHSAC). The PPMC was happy to partner with PEC who sponsored the luncheon. Thanks to all who attended!
