Access & Engagement

The Access and Engagement team kicked off a strategic planning process with the City of Maize this month. The project will include a community survey, conducted in partnership with our Research team, focus groups, stakeholder feedback, and strategic plan development. We are thrilled to work with the City of Maize as they craft their priorities and agenda for the coming years!

Applied Research & Collaboration

The Research team partnered with Child Start and Wichita Workforce to host the ICT Child Care Entrepreneur Summit on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, in the Beggs’ Ballroom inside the Rhatigan Student Center at Wichita State University. The event, funded by the National League of Cities, aimed to advance the creation of a shared vision for local stakeholders, positioning cities as national leaders in the innovation economy. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with vital resources, partners, and information to make home-based childcare businesses more sustainable and highlight the role they play in creating a vibrant local economy.

The Research team is also partnering with the Community Engagement Institute on a joint project with the Kansas State Treasurer and Kansas Health Foundation to evaluate the KIDS Matching Grant Program, which provides matching contributions to eligible families with a Learning Quest 529 account. The primary purpose of this evaluation is to identify reasons families are not taking advantage of the program and potential changes to facilitate greater adoption and impact

Talent & Organizational Success

The Talent Team hosted the Kansas Museum Association's board meeting on campus where they spent time planning for the annual conference in November and getting final thoughts on the organization’s three year strategic plan.

The Talent team also partnered with Sedgwick County to deliver the Supervisor Training Series to a cohort of 30 employees. Sessions occur on Tuesday and Thursday on the WSU campus. Attendees will graduate in early August.

Operations

The Operations team has been busy with closing out Fiscal Year 2024, and we have some EXCITING NEWS going into Fiscal Year 2025…Team PPMC is growing! Over the next few weeks, we will be onboarding a few new team members on the Access & Engagement team. Stay tuned to next month’s newsletter and social media channels to meet our new staff!
