Gearing up for a New Semester - Are YOU Ready?

As summer draws to a close, the campus is buzzing with anticipation for the start of the Fall 2026 semester. Faculty and staff across the campus are coming together to welcome new and returning students and build on the successes of the past year.

The upcoming semester promises new opportunities for learning, growth, and collaboration. Let's make Fall 2026 the most impactful semester yet.

Opening Week Schedule

A detailed schedule was emailed on Thursday, July 30, by Dr. Erika Goodwin. Please note the required sessions that are specified on the detailed schedule.

Below is a quick snapshot of what to expect.

Monday, August 17 – Health Sciences Department meetings all day and a Zoom drop-in session for CCP Instructors/H.S. Counselors/Adjunct Faculty

Tuesday, August 18 – A photographer will be available to take professional headshots for all SSCC faculty and staff from 8-10 a.m. (see image below). The All College meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with the campus luncheon kicking off at 12 noon. Plan on general campus meetings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on this day

Wednesday, August 19 - Some general campus meetings and faculty division meetings. Plan on meetings between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on this day

Thursday, August 20 - Faculty Senate meeting, SSEA meeting, and other training sessions offered. Please plan on meetings between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on this day

Friday, August 21 – Employee Health Fair beginning at 7 a.m. with the first Deep Data Dive of the series at 1:30 p.m. via Zoom

Saturday, August 22 – The Central Campus will be open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. to help students with advising, admissions, records, financial aid, learning services, and accessibility services.

New Student Resource Expo

Southern State will host a New Student Resource Expo on Saturday, August 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central Campus.

Students will have the opportunity to connect with the following before the start of the term:

Academic Advising
Financial Aid
Technology (IT)
Learning Services
Library
Bookstore
Testing Center
Business Office
