Accessible Improvements at Manilla Hall

We’re pleased to share that a new accessible entrance ramp and stairs are now complete at Manilla Hall. This upgrade meets AODA and Ontario Building Code requirements and is designed to provide safe, reliable access for years to come. Proper‑height handrails, tactile plates, and stair surface strips are now in place to help ensure comfort and safety for all users.



A big thank you to the Manilla Community Hall Association for their support and patience throughout this project. Together, we’re making our community more accessible for everyone.

Notice of a Public Meeting Regarding 507 Sarah Street on May 25 at 6:00 pm

A public meeting will be held for a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment application for lands located at 507 Sarah Street in Beaverton. A 36-unit residential development is being proposed, consisting of 30 townhouses, 2 single detached dwellings and 2 semi-detached dwellings. Visit our website for more information.

The Township is developing a new Fill and Site Alteration By-law



The Township is developing a new Fill and Site Alteration By-law to replace the existing by-law. Site alteration includes placing or removing soil or fill, or changing grades on a property. Some activities require a permit, while others are exempt. The new by-law is intended to align with recent regulatory changes, provide greater flexibility for farm properties and stronger enforcement measures. The new by-law will be presented to Council in June.

The boulevard garden program is an excellent way to beautify your neighbourhood with ornamentals while also supporting our ecosystem through the planting of native species.

For property owners in the Township of Brock who are interested in non-standard boulevard landscaping, register for free by signing and agreeing to complete the guidelines outline in the Boulevard Garden Policy and Guidelines

This award recognizes those who not only meet accessibility standards but go above and beyond in promoting awareness, removing barriers, and championing meaningful change.

Who Can Be Nominated?

We welcome nominations for any Brock business, organization, or individual who has:

• Made significant efforts to improve accessibility within the Township
• Demonstrated leadership in promoting accessibility awareness
• Taken extra steps to ensure accessibility is a core consideration in their space, services, or operations

• Specific examples of their accessibility improvements
• Details on how they have increased accessibility awareness
• Ways in which they have exceeded expectations to make Brock more inclusive

Brock Summer Day Camp has everything you need to keep your kids active, engaged, and having fun all summer long, with exciting camp options in both Cannington and Beaverton. Camps run Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm.

Spaces are filling up quickly, so don’t miss out—register early to secure your spot! If a camp is already full, we encourage you to join the waitlist, as additional spaces may become available. Please note that registration closes the Wednesday prior to each week of camp.

Beyond the Music: Ready or NoBeyond the Music: Ready or Not Ready Ready

Beyond the Music is back, bringing industry insight, community and live music together in Port Perry. Hosted by Invest Durham in partnership with Old Flame Brewing Co. and Small Town Open Mic, the free event takes place on May 28 from 5 to 10 p.m.

Designed for musicians, venue owners and creative professionals, this edition, Ready or Not Ready, dives into the business side of music, from getting work published to promoting songs to radio and beyond. Attendees will take part in a roundtable and hear from industry experts focusing on artist development. The panel will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the speakers.

The night wraps up with an open mic session, where singers and musicians are invited to take the stage and have fun. Those interested in performing must pre-register by emailing Camperdown. Participants can bring their own instrument or use one of the house guitars.

This service provides personalized expert advice to identify potential vulnerabilities in your home and recommend practical upgrades, from simple DIY improvements to larger retrofit options. Brock residents who complete a Weather-ready assessment can receive a free rain barrel (while supplies last)

• Virtually through a remote consultation

Residents will receive a customized report with clear, actionable recommendations.

In addition, the new Durham Greener Homes Loan Program offers low-interest financing to

support home energy upgrades.
