February is Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual observance of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.

Follow SSCC on our social media platforms throughout February for contests, trivia, and more centered around Black history.

Bits & Pieces

Please remember if there is a weather-related closure, it is important to refrain from coming to campus. Everyone’s cooperation will enhance personal safety. It also assists our maintenance personnel immensely when they can clear walks, drives, and parking lots without obstacles.

February 16, 2026 - all SSCC campuses will be closed in honor of Presidents' Day.
