February is Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual observance of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.

Follow SSCC on our social media platforms throughout the month for contests, trivia, prize giveaways, and more centered around Black History Month.

Presidents' Day - College Closed
Monday, February 20, 2023, all SSCC campuses will be closed in honor of Presidents' Day.

Originally established as a national holiday in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington1 it's now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all US presidents, both past and present.
Southern State AEDs
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are emergency medical devices used when a person is experiencing cardiac arrest, delivering an electrical shock designed to return the heart to its normal rhythm.

Southern State maintains a number of these devices in fixed locations on each campus. Click here to view locations.

If you have not done so already, please review the college’s AED webpage, watch the instructional videos, and familiarize yourself with the AED locations across our campuses.
HSA/HRA Wellness Requirements
To receive credit, all documents verifying the completion of a wellness requirement must be received by Crystal Howland before May 31, 2023. There are NO exceptions to this deadline.

Documents can be dropped off in person to Crystal Howland or sent via email to her at chowland1@sscc.edu.

Curious as to what requirements you may still have outstanding. Visit the SharePoint link at https://www.sscc.edu/facultystaff/sharepoint-sites.shtml
Bits & Pieces

Please remember if there is a weather-related closure, it is important to refrain from coming to campus. Everyone’s cooperation will enhance personal safety. It also assists our maintenance personnel immensely when they can clear walks, drives, and parking lots without obstacles.
