March is Women's History Month

Since 1995, a series of annual proclamations have been made in the United States designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.”

These proclamations celebrate the contributions and specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of different fields.

Follow SSCC on our social media platforms throughout March for contests, trivia, and more centered around women's history.

Deep Data Dive - Highlights of the HLC Comprehensive Assurance Report

On Friday, March 6, at 1:30 p.m., Dr. Erika Goodwin will guide participants through the highlights of our comprehensive assurance argument. As you are aware, the Higher Learning Commission will be on-site in April 2026 for our comprehensive review. The Assurance Report is the narrative report that is required in advance of the onsite visit. Dr. Goodwin will be highlighting areas of the report and supporting evidence that substantiate our claims to quality, operational soundness, and long-term sustainability, among other things. This will be a webinar you won’t want to miss as Dr. Goodwin will share additional tips to help us all be well-prepared to put our best foot forward!

As in past series, these presentations are designed to help all members of the college community, regardless of their role, connect with our data. Essentially, it’s a subtle invitation for all to broaden our knowledge and understanding of the inputs and outputs that keep the College running. Participation is voluntary, and the series is conveniently delivered in webinar format.

Daylight Saving Time begins March 8, 2026

The time change will happen at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 8. That is when 2 a.m. local time instantly becomes 3 a.m.

A number of devices, such as computers and cellphones, will reset themselves automatically, leaving you to change clocks on older, non-connected electronics. The biannual time change is also a good reminder to swap out the batteries in your home's smoke detectors.

Spring Break 2026

The College will be closed March 9-14, 2026 for Spring Break.

Take advantage of this time to relax and reset as we all prepare to tackle the final half of the spring semester.

Lunch & Learn Speaker Series

The next Lunch & Learn Speaker Series will be held on Wednesday, March 18. Sexual Assault and Violence Awareness will be the topic discussed.

Join the college community from 12 - 1 p.m. at the Central Campus in room 346.
