WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MAY
Mental Health Month

May is Mental Health Month and the Library has plenty of resources to share about overcoming stigma, confronting challenges, practicing self-care and finding support on your journey.

Mental Health Month Events:
SAT May 13, 1pm-4pm

SAT MAY 27, 2pm

In addition to our RCPL events, a variety of virtual and in-person events will take place across San Mateo county this month.

If you or someone you know are experiencing a crisis, call 988 or Text “BAY” to 741741. Learn more about county-wide resources here.
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

May is also Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and the Library is offering events to highlight the history, heritage and contributions of Asian Pacific American communities.

Find recommended reading in our Asian Pacific American Heritage and Asian & Pacific Islander Voices reading lists.
TEEN ARTISTS! ONE WEEK LEFT!
There's just ONE WEEK LEFT to submit an entry for our Mural Design Contest! 🎨 Entries are due May 8! Are you a Redwood City (RCSD/SUHSD) middle or high school student who loves to make art? You can have your art on the entire Downtown Library Teen Center wall! Submit an original design to be reproduced as a mural. The winner of the contest will be announced at our Teen Center unveiling party in June. To enter the contest, pick up a template and contest guidelines at the Teen Center or email rcplteen@gmail.com for digital submissions. Learn more
ZIPBOOKS IS BACK
The Library has reintroduced Zip Books, a service for requesting book materials that the Library does not already own. You can use this service to have qualifying books, audiobooks on CD, and large print materials shipped directly to you. Enjoy up to three items at a time at your own pace, then return them to the Downtown Library when you are finished. Learn more about this program here.

Zip Books is a statewide project of the California State Library and NorthNet. The Project is funded by the California Library Services Act.
