The campuses have been bustling with activities over the past several weeks. Here is a recap of two recent events that took place in October.
Connect to College and Career Day was held in October at both campuses to better accommodate all high school students across the College's service area.

Approximately 130 juniors and seniors from seven area schools (Fairfield Local High School, Georgetown High School, Hillsboro Christian Academy, Hillsboro High School, Lynchburg-Clay High School, McClain High School, and West Union High School) attended the event to learn more about SSCC and our academic programs.

A big shoutout goes to Kaylynn Bell for organizing the event and to all of the faculty and staff who also assisted.

Thank you for a job well done!
On Friday, October 27, 2023, the Academic Department hosted the annual Advisory Committee Breakfast.

SSCC’s eight advisory committees for technical programs—Business Management; Criminal Justice; Computer Technology; Education; Engineering; Human and Social Services; Medical Assisting; and Nursing—gathered in the lobby. Dr. Roades welcomed the group. Dr. Goodwin then gave the Charge to the Committees. The Committees spent time reviewing curriculum, discussing industry trends, and developing strategies for improvements.

Special thanks to Ann Ernst, Darlene Thacker, and Barb Fleming for their efforts in making this event a success.

Fifty-three attended the event!

SSCC Theatre Presents "The Diviners" -- Get your tickets today!
SSCC Theatre will present The Diviners, by Jim Leonard Jr., this weekend, November 3-5 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium. You do not want to miss this performance.

In a quaint Indiana town during the 1930s, this gothic prairie tale revolves around a heartbreaking event that unfolds in the life of Buddy Layman, a burdened, but bewitching boy engaged in water divination for a nearby farmer. Buddy forms a bond with C.C. Showers, a traveler passing through the town. Buddy is deeply moved by both the arrival of the stranger, and C.C. is touched by Buddy’s own poignant story.

Daylight Saving Time ends Nov. 5

The time change will happen at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5. That is when 2 a.m. local time instantly becomes 1 a.m.

A number of devices, such as computers and cellphones, will reset themselves automatically, leaving you to change clocks on older, non-connected electronics. The biannual time change is also a good reminder to swap out the batteries in your home's smoke detectors.
Veterans Day honors and pays tribute to all military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This day recognizes the bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism of veterans and serves as an opportunity to express gratitude for their service and dedication.

SSCC will be closed on Fri., Nov. 10 in honor of Veterans Day.
SSCC will be closed for Thanksgiving break beginning Wed., Nov. 22 - Sat., Nov. 25.

Enjoy this time with family and friends.

The College will resume normal business hours on Mon., Nov. 27
at 8 a.m.
