Cybersecurity Training -- October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Cybercriminal activity is among the most significant threats facing any organization. Educational institutions are not exempt and are becoming increasingly common targets for ransomware and other cybercrimes. Our main line of defense is a well-informed, cautious, and alert body of end-users. Cybersecurity Awareness Training is mandatory for all Southern State team members with computer access.

The Cybersecurity Training selected for this Fall will be available through the KnowBe4 Cybersecurity Platform. An email will be sent to you from KnowBe4 with a link to start the training. You will have until Tuesday, November 25, 2025, to complete the training.

Thank you in advance for taking this notification seriously and with diligence. It is recommended that you complete this training on your desktop or laptop.

Hamlet

Tickets go on sale October 7

SSCC Theatre will present Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, November 7-9 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium. Tickets go on sale October 7.

William Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a gripping tale of revenge, madness, and political intrigue. When Prince Hamlet learns that his father was murdered by his own uncle—now the king—he spirals into a web of insanity, existential doubt, and bloody retribution. Ghostly visitations, elaborate schemes, and a deadly duel all drive this tragic masterpiece toward its haunting conclusion.

2025 Biometric Screening Event

The 2025 Biometric Screening event will be on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Central Campus in the Nursing Lab.

The screening takes place from 7-11 a.m. SSCC employees and spouses on the College's insurance plan are encouraged to participate.

To register, go to myHealthWorksportal.com. You will need to sign up for an account if you have not done so already. Questions can be directed to Meg Storrs at mstorrs@sscc.edu.

Holiday Update & Weather Reminders

All campuses will be closed on the following days:

Monday, October 13 (Columbus Day)
Tuesday, November 11 (Veterans Day)
Wednesday, November 26 through Friday, November 28 (Thanksgiving)
Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, January 2 (Christmas/New Years)

If an emergency arises and you need to access one of the campuses, please call your campus director/dean to see if arrangements can be made.

Also, as winter weather may come around before too long, please remember if there is a weather-related closure, it is important to refrain from coming to campus. Everyone’s cooperation will enhance personal safety. It also assists our maintenance personnel immensely when they can clear walks, drives, and parking lots without obstacles.

Notifications will be distributed via our web page, social media accounts, and the Southern State Alert System. Announcements will not be made via television or radio. Your personal notification preferences can be set or updated online at SSCC Alerts.

During this annual event, we welcome high school juniors and seniors to the campus to explore academic programs, meet faculty and staff, and learn about what it would be like to be a student at SSCC.
