Declining Funding Ratios of City and County Pension Systems: Impact on Private Equity Fund Financing

Funding ratios for city- and county-sponsored pension funds have suffered a 15.7% decrease from FYE 2021 measurements as a result of global market fluctuations, dropping to an estimated average of 73.3% as of June 30, 2022. Funding ratios are an important metric for determining the creditworthiness of governmental pension plans when they invest in private equity funds that obtain subscription-secured credit facilities, so it is important for lenders and funds to have protocols in place to monitor the impact of market conditions on these underlying metrics.

Credit Analyst, Funds

Responsible for the front-to-end BCA (Business Credit Analysis) process of assigned accounts as primary analyst by performing independent, forward looking credit analysis of current and prospective clients and act as a secondary analyst as needed. Provide rating and limits recommendation based on the analysis.
Serve a Credit Analyst point of contact during deal underwriting, working closely with clients, relationship managers, legal and internal teams to mange internal compliance, booking and funding process.
Plan and conduct the overall credit process and proactive monitoring of credit events for assigned accounts.
Keep up to date with industry news/events and possible impacts on the assigned accounts.
