Dedication Ceremony for the Alicia R. Chacon Commissioners Courtroom
Former County Judge Alicia R. Chacon is a true public servant who dedicated her life to serving the people of El Paso County, breaking barrier after barrier along the way. She was the first Mexican-American to be elected to the YISD Board of Trustees, the first woman to be elected County Clerk, and the first woman to be elected El Paso County Judge. I am honored to have proposed the resolution that has now resulted in the naming of the Commissioners Courtroom after her, and am thankful to everyone who joined us at the dedication ceremony!
2nd Annual Deputy Pete Herrera 5K Memorial Run at Ascarate Park
It was truly wonderful to see so many participants at the 2nd Annual Deputy Pete Herrera 5K Memorial Run at Ascarate Park this year! The best part was being able to cheer on all of the runners, and especially my daughters Abigail and Rebekah, as they crossed the finish line!

Deputy Pete Herrera lost his life in the line of duty three years ago on March 24, 2019. He was serving the community that he loved when his life was tragically cut short after a traffic stop that turned deadly. We will never forget the sacrifice that Deputy Herrera made for us, and he will live forever in our hearts.
International
Women’s Day
It was such an honor to have been able to celebrate International Women’s Day with the amazing staff and courageous residents of Villa Maria, the only transitional shelter for single women in recovery in El Paso. I could not imagine a better way to have celebrated this special day than by being in the presence of such strong, committed, and truly inspiring women!
Pueblo Viejo Neighborhood Association
Thank you to the Pueblo Viejo Neighborhood Association for inviting me to their meeting tonight and for giving me the opportunity to make several announcements regarding upcoming County events and other programs available to County residents! It was truly heartwarming to see everyone again!
Precinct 3 Easter Egg Hunts
What a beautiful day for our first annual Pct. 3 Easter Egg Hunts in Agua Dulce and Sparks! Thank you to everyone who helped us with these events, including JPD, El Paso County Parks and Recreation, and the El Paso County Self-Help Center. The children had a wonderful time thanks to everyone’s efforts!
Horizon View Estates Park
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our County Public Works Director Norma Rivera Palacios and Parks and Recreation Director Veronica Myers for joining me in meeting with the residents of Horizon View Estates to discuss plans for the upcoming park in that community!
Visiting Precinct #3
El Paso County’s Infrastructure Department has been busy making improvements throughout Pct. 3! There are various projects on the horizon, including the Tornillo Detention Pond to alleviate flooding of neighborhoods, storm water mitigation projects at the JP6 parking lot in Clint, arroyo reconstruction in El Paso Hills and at the Sparks Arroyo, as well as ongoing efforts to build roads within landlocked communities in Fabens and Cuadrilla. Please be patient with all of the construction as we work to improve our community!
A true group effort from our community! I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who helped clean the cemetery at the Socorro Mission - La Purisima Catholic Church. Please watch their Facebook page for future clean-up events and help out for a few hours if you can!
It was wonderful seeing so many people at the Art Market in San Elizario! The vendors had many beautiful items! I also visited the Bodega Loya on my way home. The fresh mint and cilantro were amazing! Please feel free to make that visit yourselves, you will not regret it!
The green enchiladas from the Socorro Mission - La Purisima Catholic Church were absolutely delicious! I invite you to watch their Facebook page for the next enchilada sales and be sure to not miss out!
Pledge of Allegiance at Commissioners Court
Help us applaud the students who recite the Pledge of Allegiance on Monday mornings at the start of our weekly Commissioners Court meetings. You make us very proud! Thank you!
