Welcome President Biden!

I was honored to have welcomed President Biden to our federally funded Migrant Services Support Center earlier this month so that he could see all of the work that the County is doing to help the migrants arriving at our border reach their final destinations.

Tornillo-Guadalupe Port of Entry

I was able to take a tour of the infrastructure being built on the Mexican side of the Tornillo-Guadalupe port of entry. The new road connecting Chihuahua to the Tornillo port of entry will be completed in May and will result in a tremendous amount of economic development for the community of Tornillo! The progress of this project is really incredible and has come a long way since I took office in 2021!

Thank You Cowtown Boot Company

& the Calcaterra Family

My sincere gratitude to the Cowtown Boot Company for their very generous donation of 4,500 boots! With the help of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Foundation, the boots were distributed throughout our community. Boots were donated to various rural school districts, homeless shelters and to two of our Mission Valley non-profit organizations, AYUDA in San Elizario and Christmas Trails for Toys in Socorro! Thank you to everyone who helped with this amazing effort!

Christmas Trails for Toys makes boot deliveries throughout Socorro!

Christmas Trails for Toys made their first delivery of 25 boots donated by the Cowtown Boot Company to Robert Rojas Elementary School in Socorro earlier this month! The kids were so excited!

Robert Rojas Elementary School

Christmas Trails for Toys distributed more boots to children at Ernesto Serna Elementary School in Socorro! Thank you to Margie Perez for helping to distribute the boots and congratulations for being recognized by the Socorro City Council for everything that she does for the community!

Ernesto Serna Elementary School

We were also able to deliver boots to

San Ignacio Church for their Community Closet, which provides clothing and shoes for those in need. We are truly grateful to Ramona de la Paz Torres for volunteering at the Community Closet every day and to Danny Paz for helping us deliver the boots!

Boots were also delivered to Familias Triunfadoras for distribution to children in Clint, Fabens, San Elizario and Tornillo, as well as to Pastor Timothy Perea for distribution in Horizon and surrounding neighborhoods!

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Every year we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s memory by volunteering at the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger food bank. It is definitely one of my favorite family traditions!! Thank you to all of the volunteers who came out to serve their community on MLK Day, especially my youngest daughter, Rebekah! The food bank continues to provide food for hundreds of families every single day and they would not be able to do what they do without the dedication and commitment of their volunteers!

New Canopies at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger

It was wonderful to celebrate the installation of new canopies at the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger food bank in the Mission Valley. These canopies will help their amazing volunteers to continue to serve our community during the extreme heat of the summer months! The food bank continues to serve hundreds of families every day and is always grateful to any individuals or groups who can donate a few hours of their time. Click here for more information:
