Sun Bowl Parade

Veteran Capital of the USA Unveiling

It was a beautiful ceremony at the County Coliseum for the Veteran Capital of the USA unveiling! Congratulations to SSGT. (Ret.) Pete G. Flores on being named the 2022-2023 Veteran of the Year! And thank you to the prior Veteran of the Year, Chief Warrant Officer (Ret.) David Garcia, for your tireless service!

Fabens Veteran’s Day Ceremony


It was a beautiful morning for the annual Fabens Veteran’s Day Ceremony and groundbreaking for the new Veterans Memorial that will soon be built at Fabens Veterans Park thanks to a $900,000 grant from the EDA and a $200,000 grant match from the County of El Paso!


San Elizario Veterans Day Parade

It was a beautiful morning for the annual San Elizario Veterans Day Parade! Thank you to Mr. Ray Borrego and the San Elizario Veterans Parade Committee for 26 years of organizing such a wonderful event! A special thanks to all of our veterans for your service to our country and community! God bless America and God bless our veterans!

Career Day at EPCC

Valle Verde Campus

It was an honor to be the guest speaker at this month's Career Day at the EPCC Valle Verde Campus! The students had great questions! Thank you to the Library Department for organizing the event and inviting me to speak!

Texas Homeowners Assistance Fund


It was truly wonderful to have met representatives from the Texas Homeowners Assistance Fund as they visited the intake center located at AYUDA in San Elizario! Funds are still available for homeowners in need of assistance with their mortgage, utilities and property taxes!

Christmas Trails for Toys

Thank you to Margie Perez and all of the volunteers at Christmas Trails for Toys for all that you do to make sure that families in our community have had a Thanksgiving dinner on their table for the past 19 years! And thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate this year!

ARPA Check Presentation



The County of El Paso awarded over $9.6 million in grants to local non-profit organizations this past month! This funding from the American Rescue Plan Act will go directly to serving the residents of El Paso County as our community continues to recover from the economic effects of the pandemic. Congratulations to the 18 organizations that received a grant!!

Holiday Lights at Ascarate Park

Thank you to everyone who attended the kickoff of the Lights on the Lake event at Ascarate Park! And a very special thank you goes out to Fred Loya for giving us the opportunity to host his traditional light show at Ascarate for even more families to enjoy! The light show will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6-9pm from now until December 25.
