Rural Mayors Roundtable

The Rural Mayors Roundtable hosted by Rodrigo Estrada of Congressman Gonzales’ office was very informative and provided the mayors in attendance with an opportunity to share their priorities with the County’s new Economic Development Director!

End-of-school Pool Party at Fabens Veteran’s Park

It was a beautiful day for our annual end-of-school pool party at the Fabens Veteran’s Park Pool! Thank you to all of the awesome volunteers who made this event possible, including Mr. David Sublasky, Joe from Fabens Quick Lube for grilling the hot dogs, Constable Javier Garcia and his deputies, State Rep. Mary Gonzalez, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department for donating hundreds of flip flops for the kids, Commander Ryan Urrutia for bringing the

beach balls, our awesome DJ Ray Calzadias

for providing the music and everyone who worked hard to make this event a success!

Horizon City Council

Congratulations to the three new Alderwomen for Horizon City that were sworn in this past month: Alderwoman Laura Urrutia, Alderwoman Rosie Ortega and Alderwoman Pat Randleel. I look forward to working with all of you!

Joint Military Assistance Command

It was so wonderful to be able to join the Joint Military Assistance Command this past month in honor of the canines who work side by side with our military and law enforcement officers every day!

San Elizario Cemetery Clean-Up

We were so blessed to have so many volunteers show up this past month to help clean the cemetery in San Elizario! Thank you to the Veteran Riders Association for bringing thirty National Guardsmen to help, the cities of San Elizario and Clint, the County Juvenile Probation Department and of course to Mr. Ray Borrego and his amazing volunteers for organizing the clean-up!

Capistrano Elementary School

It was such a pleasure to welcome the Capistrano Elementary School Student Council to the Courthouse this past month! They were able to learn about the services provided by their local county government. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy day to welcome the students!

KTSM Channel 9 "Small Town Spotlight"

SAN ELIZARIO, TX

KTSM Ch. 9 was in San Elizario this past month as part of their Small Town Spotlight series! I was very proud to be able to share with them that San Elizario was named the #1 Historic Small Town in the US by USA Today and that the Mission Trail was named the 2023 Best Historical Site by the Texas Travel Awards!

SOCORRO, TX

The City of Socorro was also featured on this month’s KTSM Ch. 9 Small City Spotlight! The broadcast was filmed at the historic Casa Ortiz on the Mission Trail and highlighted several local businesses, such as El Charlatan, Bodega Loya, Three Missions Brewery and the Dusty Tap!

HORIZON CITY, TX

Horizon City was also featured on KTSM’s Small Town Spotlight this month, and broadcast from the beautiful Horizon Golf Course! Of course, my daughter Rebekah’s favorite part of the afternoon was learning to drive a golf cart!

Mission Trail Voted Best Historical Site in Texas!

The Mission Trail was named the 2023 Best Historical Site by the Texas Travel Awards! Thank you to the Mission Trail Alliance for organizing a wonderful event to share the news with the community!

Our Lady of Guadalupe Kermes in Fabens

The Our Lady of Guadalupe kermes in Fabens was a great event, even with the heat! The music was great and the food was truly delicious! I hope you were able to stop by and enjoy the fun!
