Massachusetts Cybersecurity Week
Our partners at the MassCyberCenter hosted the first-ever Massachusetts Cybersecurity Week, which took place last week. The purpose of the Week was to highlight the robust cybersecurity ecosystem that exists in our state. Companies focused on the cybersecurity challenges in the healthcare world like Pixm and Cybereason have played a significant part in the growth of the state’s cybersecurity ecosystem. Healthcare systems, particularly hospitals, face a growing array of cyberthreats everyday.

Cybersecurity Toolkit
In 2019, MassChallenge HealthTech, worked with cybersecurity and IT experts from the Mass. Digital Health Council and partner organizations like the MassCyberCenter to create a cybersecurity toolkit for digital health companies of all sizes. The toolkit contains resources for digital health companies interested in working with Massachusetts hospitals, guides to best practices, and a checklist for key security and standardization requirements.
Tap Into TechSpring’s Cybersecurity Event
Earlier this month Baystate Health's innovation center TechSpring hosted a packed event on cybersecurity and digital health. The panel featuring Bay State Health Chief Information Security Office Kevin Hamel, Cybersecurity Expert Laz Montano and TechSpring's Madey Dybdahl discussed the various cyber threats facing digital health companies today. Boston's Sunu Wins AARP's National Grand Pitch Competition
Boston-based startup Sunu beat out nine other finalists to win the $5,000 grand prize at AARP’s Grand Pitch competition in Washington, D.C. Sunu makes smart wristbands that use echolocation technology to help the visually imparied better navigate their surroundings. Sunu was not the only Massachusetts company to make the final round of the competition. Pong Robotics of Concord and Loro of Boston were also finalists. Read more .

Heather Waibel, founder and CEO of Welnys and winner of the 2019 MassChallenge HealthTech 'Women in Digital Health' award, has broken barriers as a solo, female company founder. Like many women in the digital health word, Heather faced significant challenges that many of her male counterparts did not. Here’s how she cleared significant obstacles to get where she is today .
Price is Right Data Challenge Applications Are Open
Consumers have a difficult time figuring out what their health care actually costs. This challenge aims to tackle that problem by developing tools that inform consumers of their health care options and costs so they can make better decisions. Participants will use actual cost data from Massachusetts and New Hampshire and be evaluated on how well their tools turn complex data into simple information, identify opportunities to lower costs of care, and assist consumers in making decisions . Massachusetts Digital Health is Going to HLTH 2019
Held this year at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, HLTH is one of the largest annual digital health conferences in the world. For four days, HLTH brings “together payers, providers, employers, investors, fast-growing startups, pharma, policymakers and innovation centers to ask one question: how do we create the future of health?”

The Massachusetts digital health ecosystem will be well represented at this event with people, speakers, booths, pavilions, and events throughout the four days of the conference. Organizations and hospitals such as: Act.md, Atlas Health, Boston Children's Hospital, Cambridge Semantics, Dynamicare Health, Flare Capital Partners, iGetBetter Inc., MassChallenge HealthTech, Orbita, Patient Ping, and more.
