Temporary Removal B36 at West 33rd Street and Surf Avenue
Please note we apologize the community should have been informed. Below is the letter from the MTA. The office has contacted them to correct the signage.
MTA wanted to bring to your attention an upcoming temporary bus stop removal. This temporary bus stop removal is for the Sheepshead Bay-bound B36 stop on W 33 St at Surf Av. The stop will be closed due to planned installation of steam/hot water pipes to the buildings in the area as part of NYCHA’s Sandy Recovery program.
The proposed excavation, which will cross along W 33 St, will require a closure of the street and detouring the Sheepshead Bay-bound B36 bus. Buses going south on W 33 St will go west at Mermaid, south on W 36 St, east on Surf Av and resume regular route. Riders will be directed to the following stop on Surf Av at W 32 St, one-two blocks away.
Construction is pending NYCDOT removal of the stop, which still needs to be coordinated before the detour can begin. Once the dates are determined, MTA will send a follow up email. The stop will be restored when the work has finished.
