New and old: current and alumni Band of Gold members play concert for 100th anniversary
As a 1971 Lancaster High School graduate and former LHS director of bands, Bill Wittman has been part of the Band of Gold for half of its existence. He got the chance to conduct it once again Friday night during the band's 100th anniversary concert in downtown Lancaster.

Alumni and current members of the band paraded from Mt. Pleasant Elementary School down North Broad Street to Zane Square, where they held a concert for a few hundred people.

"Seeing the bands come together tonight, with alumni and the high schoolers, it's great. I believe arts are the glue that keeps us all together. I had a former student share with me how even just one year of band changed her life," Wittman said. "It's incredible what music and marching band can mean for people."

Did you know that insurance for your student's chromebook is different this year? Instead of automatically being charged to your account, you will need to OPT-IN to get the chromebook insurance. It still costs $20, but again, you will need to fill out the chromebook protection form and pay $20 by cash or check.

Students have until October 1 to turn in their chromebook protection form and money. If students do NOT opt-in for the insurance, the family will be liable for the cost of any repairs or replacements.
